2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Applications Open Wednesday, May 4, 2026

The 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications for Project Grants, Planning Grants, and Urgent Need Grants will open in CAMS on Wednesday May 4, 2026.

The deadline to apply for Project Grants and Planning Grants is Wednesday July 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST. The deadline to apply for Urgent Need Grants is October 16^th, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.

A copy of the 2026 CDBG Program Design Manual and Application Guidelines will be made available at dhcd.virginia.gov/cdbg-community-improvement-grants on April 27^th, 2026.

To assist with the development and submission of applications, the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will hold a virtual How-to-Apply (HTA) Workshop on May 13, 2026 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.

The presentation will focus on best practices for submitting CDBG applications, review programmatic details and changes, and provide guidance for answering application questions.
