Thank you for registering for the
6th Annual
Endure Trail Runs
Date: May 16, 2026
Location: Mueller State Park at Pisgah Group Campground in Divide, CO

📣 READ THIS. IT MATTERS.
By registering for an HPRS event, you have committed to more than just a run; you have accepted the Responsibilities of the Runner. We do not coddle, and we do not manage your logistics for you. Showing up prepared is the baseline requirement for entry.
If your plans have changed and you are no longer attending:
👉 Review the Refund/Credit/Deferral Policy Here
Note: We enforce this policy strictly to maintain the sustainability of our races.
🏔️ Your Race, Your Responsibility
Trail running is an inherently dangerous pursuit that demands focus and self-reliance. HPRS provides the framework, but you own the experience.
Before race day, ensure you have mastered these specifics:
We aren’t here to hold your hand; we are here to provide the sanctuary where you can test your limits. That starts with showing up ready.

• When parking, all four tires must always remain on the pavement. Follow the directions of HPRS staff and volunteers who will be parking you.
• Family or friends may drop you off; this is also covered in the Runner Guide.
• You may access your vehicle as an aid station throughout the event.

PARKING
Parking details are covered thoroughly in the Runner Guide and Pre-Race Meeting. Here’s the quick version:
Please try and arrive with one of the following:
- Keep Colorado Wild Pass associated with your vehicle registration -or-
- One of the following passes: Centennial Pass, Family Parks Pass, Affixed Vehicle Parks Pass, Aspen Leaf Parks Pass, Specialty Parks Pass -or-
- One of the following plates on your vehicle: Any Military, Disabled Veteran, or Purple heart plate or handicap plates or visible handicap placard.
Arriving with one of the above will earn you the easiest and quickest access into event parking.
If you do not have one of the above passes or plates:
-
You will be required to pay the $10 park entry fee to the park at the entry gate. This is a cash only situation, please bring exact change!

CHANGING DISTANCE
Want to switch races? No problem. At check-in, just tell the volunteer:
- Your name
- The distance you’re signed up for
- The distance you’d like to switch to
Moving Down in Distance:
- Allowed at no cost
- No refunds, credits, or partial reimbursement
Moving Up in Distance:
- You’ll need to pay the difference in entry fees
- We'll accept cash, CC, PayPal and Venmo at check-in
- Once paid, we’ll confirm your new distance
**MID-RACE DROP DOWN OPTION** Select HPRS events allow a mid-race drop down in distance, where you will still receive a finisher's award and have your finish time in the results, if you bit off more than you can chew.
Any runner who starts the Half Marathon may drop down at the 10k point of their run and receive a finisher's award and their time in the 10k results. Those in the Marathon may drop down at the 10k point of their run, or at the half marathon point of their run, and receive a finisher's award and their results in either the 10k or half marathon results.
Those in the 12-Hour LRS Event; if you fail to survive a round within the LRS event, you will be moved to the 12-Hour "Tiny Balls" event and allowed to continue therein. Your result will shift and appear in the Tiny Balls results. Therefore there are technically no DNFs in the 12-Hour LRS event.
There is no drop-down option for the 10k or 12-Hour "Tiny Balls" events, meaning you are locked into the event you start. Those in the 12-hour, as long as you finish your first loop, you are an official finisher (ie, no DNFs).

AWARDS & RECOGNITION
Finisher Awards: Complete your adventure and you’ll receive a finisher’s award to commemorate the effort. We value every mile covered, regardless of the pace.
The DFL Award (Dead F'ing Last): In our tribe, we honor perseverance. The final finisher in every distance, the runner who spent the most time on their feet, receives:
- 💎 A custom DFL trophy
- 🎟️ One comp entry to a future HPRS race
The 100% Policy: No Podiums, No Age Groups
We do not offer awards for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, nor do we divide runners by age or category. This isn't about who is fastest; it’s about who is willing.
Every runner is on a personal journey that matters more to us than minutes on a clock. We celebrate the courage it takes to toe the line, the grit required to finish, and the honesty required to stop when you must.
Medals & Shirts:
Guaranteed Deadline: You must have registered by May 4th to guarantee your shirt and medal.
Late Registrants: If you signed up after the deadline, you will only receive these items if extras remain after the final finisher has crossed the line.
"Some people build races to crown champions. I build them to reveal character."
— John Lacroix, HPRS Founder

NAVIGATION & TRACKING
The Reality of Course Marking
The course will be marked with surveyor’s tape, pin flags, and laminated signs at major intersections. However, markers are not permanent. Between potential vandalism (which is common at this venue), wildlife, and weather, course markings can and do disappear.
We do not station marshals at every turn. In the spirit of true trail and ultra culture: Knowing the course is your responsibility. If you get lost because you didn't prepare, that is on you.
Navigation Tools
Do not rely solely on ribbons. We strongly recommend using CalTopo or Gaia GPS. These apps provide offline tracking and will show you exactly where you are in relation to the course, even without cell service.
-
Proactive Setup: You must download these apps and preload the race data before arriving at the park.
| | |
Live Tracking for Friends & Family
HPRS does not provide public live tracking. We track you for safety and timing, not for spectator entertainment.
If your family wants to see your progress, you are responsible for setting that up. You can share your real-time location via CalTopo, Garmin, or Strava Beacon.

Check-In & Logistics
-
ID Requirement: You may be required to show a government-issued photo ID at check-in.
-
Self-Pickup Only: You may only pick up your own bib and swag. We do not allow the collection of items for anyone other than yourself.
Drop Bags
- All drop bags must be labeled and dropped off on race morning at the Start/Finish area (Pisgah).
-
Self-Reliance: You are responsible for your belongings. Do not leave your bag behind. * Deadline: All abandoned drop bags will be disposed of at the conclusion of the event (Saturday Night). We do not mail forgotten gear.
Shirts & Swag
-
Sizing: Shirts are made-to-order based on your registration. We do not carry bulk inventory.
-
Exchanges: If you need a different size, you may check for an exchange at the finish line once all races have started. Exchanges are subject to availability from no-shows.
-
Finality: If you leave the event without your shirt, it will not be mailed to you.
Sanitation & Etiquette
-
Porta-Potties: Porta potties will be located within the Pisgah Campground - Start/Finish area. Use them for their intended purpose and vacate quickly so others can do the same. We have been asked to NOT use the camper services building for restroom facilities at our event.
Hydration & Electrolytes
- Our electrolyte replacement will be GU Roctane. If your system requires a specific brand, you are responsible for carrying your own.
Nutrition & Expectations
-
Gels & Chews: HPRS will NOT have gels or chews at our aid stations. Gels are a fast-burning fuel that doesn't align with the demands of long-distance endurance. We provide a legendary spread of real food; we’ll have what you need. If you specifically want gels, you are responsible for bringing them yourself.
Share Your Story
-
Photos: Please take photos and share them. Use the hashtags #HPRS and #hprunningseries.
-
Race Reports: If you write a report or blog post after the race, send us the link. We want to feature your story on our website.

TRAIL & ULTRA 101
Whether you’re nervous, curious, or want to ensure you aren't "that runner," start here. This 27-minute video is a blunt, no-BS explanation of the rules and culture of our sport.

🛣️ to 🌄 Road/Triathlon to Trail?
Coming from road running or triathlon? We’re glad you’re here, but keep in mind that trail and ultra events are a different beast. The culture, the logistics, and the expectations of the runner are not the same as your last marathon or Ironman.
To help you adjust to the HPRS standard:
📖 Read: What Makes Trail & Ultra Different
🎧 Or listen: Podcast Episode – Trail vs. Road/Tri
Don’t assume this will feel like a corporate trail series or a paved road race. We are grittier, dirtier, and intentionally less polished. We aren't here to sell you a lifestyle or a branded experience; we are here to hold space for your personal growth.
No frills. No hype. Just real people doing hard things, together.

🐕 NO DOGS. NOT EVEN GOOD ONES
We understand your dog is part of your family, but they cannot be part of this race. Even the most well-behaved animals cause significant issues in a high-pressure race environment.
The Reality:
-
Wildlife Impact: Dogs can harass wildlife, disrupt nesting areas, or spread disease to local animal populations.
-
Safety & Liability: Dogs can intimidate other runners or visitors and are at risk of injury from cliffs, wildlife, or other animals.
-
Permit Stewardship: Many of our land managers have specific dog regulations. Violating their regulations puts our future permits at risk.
The Rule: Dogs are not allowed at any HPRS event. This applies to runners, spectators, crew, and volunteers. This includes in the parking lot, at check-in, at the start/finish line, on course, in aid stations, or anywhere else associated with the event.
🚫 If you, or anyone in your party, brings a dog to the race site, you will be disqualified. It is your responsibility to ensure your family and friends understand: No dogs. Period.
Pet Care Resource
If you live in the Denver Metro area or along the Front Range (from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins) and need a reliable sitter, we recommend Amazing Pets Care. Sarah Schuldt and her team are professionals who understand the needs of the running community. LEARN MORE HERE.

#STAY: Bring Each Other Home
You’ve trained for months. You’ve made sacrifices. You’ve come here not just to run but to belong. Race day is more than a finish line. It’s a celebration of commitment and community.
Now imagine being one of the last runners out there—the "Mere Mortals" who have spent the most time on their feet, pushing through the same struggle—only to finish to an empty field. That isn't who we are.
We’re asking you to #STAY.
We all have lives and families waiting for us, but this sport is built on something deeper: shared effort, mutual respect, and showing up for one another. It is a long-standing trail tradition to stay and cheer every last runner in.
Let’s honor the grit of the back-of-the-pack. Let's stick around, celebrate the final finishers, and bring everyone home... together.
🎉 #STAY: Because every step matters. Every runner counts.

"Challenge by choice" is a core philosophy at HPRS. It means you are the primary stakeholder in your experience. You decide how far you go, how hard you push, and what success looks like for you. In trail and ultrarunning, every decision—from the moment you register to the moment you choose to continue or stop on course—is yours. This is your challenge. Your choice. Your race.
Our Role: Support, Not Control
Our objective is to keep you moving and believing whenever possible. However, if you decide to withdraw from the race, we will honor that decision. We have built an intentional process to:
- Offer encouragement and check-in support.
- Provide space for a graceful, self-respecting decision.
- Uphold our values of compassion and care.
Success is not always defined by a finish line. Sometimes, success is found in the honesty of listening to your body and choosing a different path than you originally planned. Whatever that looks like, we respect it.
You Signed Up for This. And We’re With You.
By registering, you have accepted everything this adventure brings: the weather, the terrain, the uncertainty, and the emotional friction. Each HPRS race is its own beast with its own risks and rewards. While we fiercely protect the integrity of the race, we care more about the integrity of your journey.
Many of you are here to work through something; to heal, to grow, or to reclaim a piece of yourself.
If that’s you: ❤️ We see you. We support you. And we’re honored to be part of your path.

Meet the Community Round Table (CRT)
HPRS is guided by a team of runners just like you. The Community Round Table is a group of 16 diverse voices tasked with keeping this series accountable to our values. All feedback sent to the email above is reviewed by the CRT first. They help us improve, stay inclusive, and ensure the HPRS tribe remains strong.
❗ A Quick Note About Timing
Please do not provide feedback in person on race day. During the event, our staff and Race Director are operating on fumes and focusing entirely on safety and logistics. They are not in the headspace to give your thoughts the attention they deserve.
Sending an email ensures that:
- You are heard without the distraction of race-day chaos.
- Your ideas are recorded and not lost to exhaustion.
- Your experience is used to intentionally shape the future of HPRS.
Thank you for helping us evolve, together.

Meet Your Race Director: John Lacroix
“I don’t put on races; I build experiences that help people remember who they are.”
This event is directed by John Lacroix, founder of HPRS. This weekend marks John’s 120th event directed, spanning a total of 369 distances, including 228 ultramarathons. He has directed the second-most ultras in U.S. history and holds the record for the most trail races directed in Colorado.
📖 Intrigued? Read John’s full bio here
“On race day, I’m usually all over the course: checking in, solving problems, making sure things run smoothly. But what I love most is getting to meet the incredible humans who show up to run. If you see me this weekend and I don't seem too terribly busy, let's have a brief conversation where we can say "Hi" and I can thank you for joining us. It would be an honor to meet you, and it's a privilege to be your Race Director.”
See you soon. Let’s do something unforgettable.
