ARIZONA@WORK Reaches Fredonia
ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County continues to travel to the farthest corners of the county to connect with community members and share information about the employment, training, and career services available through our workforce system.
On July 16, Title I-B service provider Eckerd Connects was represented by Career Coach Cori Cusker at the Fredonia Back to School Health Fair, hosted by Coconino County Health and Human Services in partnership with the Fredonia Care & Share Food Bank. The event brought together local families and community organizations to provide resources and support as students prepare for the new school year.

Strengthening Tribal Workforce Partnerships
On July 17, the ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County Title I-B service provider Eckerd Connects team attended the Tribal Community Wellness & Awareness Conference in Flagstaff.
The event brought together Tribal and community organizations to share resources, strengthen partnerships, and connect attendees with employment, training, and career services available through ARIZONA@WORK.

Build Your Career with Maintenance Technician Training
Registration is open for the Fall 2026 Maintenance Technician Course at Coconino Community College (Sept. 14 – Nov. 13). Gain hands-on skills in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, safety, and customer service while earning certifications including CAMT, EPA 608, and OSHA 10.
The hybrid course includes weekend hands-on training; funding assistance may be available for eligible applicants.

Re-Entry Expo Coming September 2–3
Know someone seeking a fresh start? Join us for the Re-Entry Expo on September 2–3, 2026, at the AZDES ARIZONA@WORK Building (1701 N. 4th St). This two-day event provides essential community support, job preparation, and hiring opportunities for individuals navigating re-entry.
Day 1: Get Work Ready!
- Wednesday, Sept. 2 | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Free haircuts, work clothes/shoes, health screenings, mobile showers, community resources, and more!
Day 2: Re-Entry Hiring Event & Legal Support
- Thursday, Sept. 3 | 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
- Meet re-entry-friendly employers, get 1:1 resume help, ask legal questions, access warrant resolution support, and register to vote.
Free Transportation: Mention "Re-Entry Expo" on Mountain Line for a free bus ride to the event!

Youth Gain Skills Through BIRDS@Work Internship
The annual BIRDS@Work June Internship wrapped up on June 25, celebrating local teens who completed 48 hours of service work focused on community and environmental stewardship. Participants from area high schools gained hands-on experience through projects including school garden maintenance, habitat restoration, tree planting, and urban land stewardship.
ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County was proud to support this program, which helped youth build teamwork, problem-solving, and workplace skills while making a positive impact in their community.

Youth Work Experiences Support Food Security
ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County youth participants are gaining valuable work experience while supporting food security efforts in the community. One participant is working with Forestdale Farms, helping prepare fresh eggs for the farm stand, while another is assisting with neighborhood food box distribution through the Flagstaff Family Food Center.
These Work Experience placements help youth build workplace skills while making a meaningful contribution to local community resources.
