Over the years the Loon Mountain Race has developed quite a following. The reputation as one of the country’s toughest mountain races is due in large part to the kilometer ascent of North Peak via the black diamond trail known as Upper Walking Boss. ‘The Boss’, as it’s affectionately known, is roughly a kilometer of grassy slope with angles that exceed a dizzying 40% grade!

10 year Anniversary of the The Ragged 75 Stage Race!

July 31st, Aug 1st & Aug 2nd

This race is a challenging 75-mile race with approximately 15,500 feet of elevation gain that includes very technical single-track, steep climbs & descents, double track, fire roads, dirt/gravel roads & pavement. We have also added a 50k on Sunday to make the race accessible to folks who can not get away for 3 days.

The race predominantly follows a 75-mile loop of hiking trails, surrounding Lake Sunapee in Western/Central, NH called the SRKG Greenway (Sunapee Ragged Kearsage Greenway).

For the 3 day stage race, Competitors will complete a point-to-point trail of approximately 25 miles in Stage 1 (summiting Mt. Ragged & Mt. Kearsarge), 22 miles in Stage 2 (summiting Mt. Sunapee) and 33 miles in Stage 3.

SEPTEMBER 13th 2026 Presented by Merrell

The Kismet Cliff Run takes place every September amidst the rugged beauty of New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Choose either the Beast of the East Half-Marathon or Little Beast 5 Miler.

Little Beast is a five-mile race that navigates the roller coaster trails of Cathedral and Whitehorse Ledges. Twisting double track quickly gives way to steep, technical single track as you take on the first of two tough ascents.

The Beast of the East Half-Marathon takes the Little Beast Course, and adds a stupendous loop over North Moat Mountain via the incredible granite Red Ridge. As you grind your way up the 2,000 foot climb, you will have time to take in the amazing views. However you will be fully exposed to any inclement weather, so be prepared! The Beast has over 4,300 ft of vertical fun.

This course is one of the most technical and scenic courses possible in a location that was once brimming with fire…yes…’Pawtuck’ was once a volcanic site. We think the race’s namesake – the Roman God of Fire – would be proud of a course that will have you traversing a massive boulder field, tearing through dense forest, hammering down single-track switchbacks, jumping streams, crossing bridges and heading up a rocky slope appropriately named the Devil’s Staircase. The lava making up the park has long cooled, but your legs will be burning.

This is a rugged trail race whose distance and elevation profile combine for a very challenging test, even for the fittest endurance athlete. Make no mistake about it, the course travels along hiking trails with sections that must be negotiated very carefully. Run at the peak of NH foliage make sure to steal a peek or two at the highest elevations…it’ll be worth the effort.

This mountain footrace winds up and down the slopes of Cranmore Mountain, offering hard-earned views and a rewarding descent back to the base. As part of the historic USATF-New England Mountain Running Circuit, it attracts dedicated trail runners from across the region. There is a 5K and 10K option.
