Shaping Arizona’s Workforce Future
On September 8, ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County Workforce Board staff participated in the Arizona Workforce Listening Session at Coconino Community College in Flagstaff. The session brought together workforce, education, business, Tribal, and community partners to discuss local workforce needs, challenges, and opportunities.
The conversation provided an opportunity to share perspectives from Coconino County and highlight the importance of collaboration among workforce partners. Input gathered during the listening session will help inform Arizona’s workforce priorities and strengthen connections between education, training, employers, and career opportunities throughout the state.

Connecting Students to Career Resources
On September 1, ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County Title 1B service provider Eckerd joined Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) Title III representatives at the Community Resource Fair at Coconino Community College (CCC). The team connected with students and shared information about workforce development services, employment opportunities, and career training resources. Together, they helped students explore resources to support their education and career goals.

Re-Entry Expo Connects Clients with Workforce Resources
On September 2–3, the Re-Entry Expo at the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) Building, ARIZONA@WORK one-stop job center, connected individuals with employment, community, and legal resources. During the two-day event, 41 clients registered with Title III to access services including job preparation, resume assistance, hiring opportunities, and other resources to support their transition toward employment and self-sufficiency.

ARIZONA@WORK at Northern Arizona Anti-Hunger Summit
On September 3, ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County Title 1B service provider Eckerd, led by Area Manager Sandra Darling and her team, participated in the 2026 Northern Arizona Anti-Hunger Summit in Flagstaff. The summit brought together community partners to discuss food access, hunger reduction, and community resilience while strengthening connections that support individuals and families on their path toward self-sufficiency.

Supporting Veterans on the Path to Career Success
On September 11, ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County Title 1B service provider Eckerd partnered with Title III representatives at the Williams Veteran Stand Down to connect veterans and their families with workforce development services, training opportunities, and employment resources. The event strengthened connections with the veteran community and helped raise awareness of resources that support career pathways and economic stability.

On September 24, ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County Title 1B service provider Eckerd participated in the Flagstaff Unified School District Career Expo and College Fair at Coconino High School. The team connected with students, families, educators, and community partners to share information about career exploration, workforce development, and educational opportunities available throughout Coconino County.

SBA Disaster Recovery Loans Available for Pocket Fire-Impacted Businesses
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) to eligible small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, and private nonprofit organizations affected by the Pocket Fire. Eligible businesses in Coconino and six other Arizona counties may apply for up to $2 million in working capital to help cover expenses such as payroll, rent, utilities, and other operating costs. Applications are due May 11, 2027.
