MARCH 2024
Giveaway for Students with Special Needs - March 15
Students with special needs from across the area are invited to join us on Friday, March 15 from 9-11 am to select a free prom dress and accessory. Advance registration is required. We recognize that the hustle and bustle of the general Prom Dress Giveaway event might make it difficult for some students to attend. In an effort to provide the same experience for all women regardless of ability, we have created this fun opportunity!
For more information and to RSVP, please contact info@abbyscloset.org. Special needs groups, as well as individuals, are encouraged to join us. Photo by Kathrine Birch, Aspen & Birch.

Multnomah Athletic Club collects dresses to support Giveaway
A huge thank you to the Multnomah Athletic Club, who hosted a dress drive in February. Members donated 220 dresses and several accessories in just a week, all which will make their way to the March Prom Dress Giveaway.
We collect dresses and accessories year round in order to be ready for our March event and to offer as many dresses as possible to students. If your organization would like to host a dress drive, contact us at info@abbyscloset.org.
Good Day Oregon spends morning with Abby and SAB students

KPTV's Good Day Oregon host Ayo Elise spent Presidents' Day morning at the Abby's Closet Clubhouse with Co-founder Abby Wilson and several members of our Student Advisory Board. Abby shared the story of how she and her mother, Sally, founded the organization and held the first Prom Dress Giveaway 20 years ago. The students also modeled several of the dresses and accessories available at the Giveaway and talked about how to register to get a dress and how adults can volunteer.
If you missed the segment, you can still check it out at online at KPTV Good Day Oregon.
Rose Festival Court partners with AC again for formal dresses

Our dresses don't just go to prom - they also can be found on several Rose Festival princesses. This partnership with the Portland Rose Festival, has connected our two organizations for more than 10 years. The dresses are used during official Rose Festival appearances and each court finalist is able to select one of our dresses. In addition to the Rose Festival, we work with several other community organizations throughout the year to provide free formal dresses to high school students.

With more than 700 applications this year, the Dreams Scholarship judging was quite the team effort. The number of applicants far surpassed last year's 400 for four scholarships totaling almost $10,000
A huge thank you to all of our judges! More than 30 judges met and spent several hours for the first round of judging and then nine volunteers met to select the final winners. Thank you to all of our scholarship applicants and judges. Winners will be announced in the next couple of weeks on our website.
