GIFT. The Gift that keeps giving is the 17 Department of Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service Contractor Awards. The Council values our agency relationships and are extremely proud to announce that in 2021 the Bureau of the Fiscal Service awarded 56 HUBZone Set aside Actions benefitting 17 different HUBZone Companies including the following Council members: Anacapa Micro Products, Inc., FEDBIZ IT Solutions, LLC and Westwind Computer Products, Inc.
IMPACT. What makes this even more significant is that this Bureau out shined so many other agencies and bureaus with larger budgets. Over the last few years, small business specialists have worked tirelessly to educate the Department of Treasury’s (Treasury) acquisition community on the importance of the HUBZone Program and the effect an award can have on small businesses located in historically underutilized business zones. These contracts enabled 17 companies to empower their communities with diverse employment and business opportunities.
VALUE. A trailblazer paving the way for Treasury to hit their HUBZone target. This accomplishment provides other federal acquisition professionals the Proof-Points needed to meet their 3% annual HUBZone goals. Our members have repeatedly stated that in order for the HUBZone program to reach its full potential there must be a change in the acquisition philosophy. The Council will continue to share the Fiscal Service’s story as evidence of the importance of the program and the stakeholders that made the difference. Additionally, the Council would like to recognize other agency partners that have taken the steps to embrace the HUBZone mission and invited the Council to speak to their acquisition professionals. We consider them our emerging trailblazers they are the General Services Administration along with the Departments of Health and Human Services and Education.
