TIDBITS / NEWS / EVENTS

I haven’t mentioned it because of the all the negativity of the pandemic and all, but I want to thank all of you for making us the Number One Triumph Dealer in North America again! 2020 was surely a year none of us will ever forget, and my heart goes out to so many small business owners for their struggles and hardships this past year.

Being a small business owner for most of my adult life I understand how hard it is, financially, to pay all of the bills and keep the doors open. Many people think that as a business owner you are made of money. Unfortunately, for most all of us it is the exact opposite. Between the exorbitant prices of rent, huge business taxes, payroll, massive insurance and slow times where customers are just not coming in to buy, being in business is seldom what we dreamed it would be.

So Cal Motorcycles has been open 21 years now. I am blessed with the quality of my staff and you wonderful customers that have kept us open, as well as the great brands we carry and the people behind them. We will continue to strive to be the best dealer for you, and take care of all of your motorcycling, and now bicycling, wants and needs.

Thank you!
2021 Giant Trance X E+ Pro 29 1
Talks the Torque
Giant Bicycles continues to evolve its electric mountain bike lineup with the arrival of a brand new full suspension e-MTB called the Trance X E+. Replacing the existing 27.5in version (which only came out two years ago, such is the pace of e-MTB development), the new Trance X E+ gets an all-new chassis that is optimized around 29in wheels with chunky 2.6in tires front and rear. It’s still pitched as a comfortable and versatile do-it-all trail bike, so suspension remains the same with a 150mm fork up front and 140mm of rear-wheel travel courtesy of the Maestro dual-link platform.

Bigger Capacity
Unlike the previous Trance E+ and Reign E+ models that were limited to a 500Wh battery, the new Trance X E+ gets a larger 625Wh battery pack. That’s a 25% increase in capacity, bringing Giant’s e-MTB offering in-line with the full-size battery options from Bosch and Shimano, and pretty close to the 700Wh battery found in high-end Specialized Levo models.
Giant call this new battery the ‘EnergyPak Smart 625’, and it sits inside a hollow cavity underneath the downtube. You can charge the battery in situ, or you can remove it from the frame with a T25 torx key in order to charge it separately. According to Giant, it takes just 2.2 hours to charge the 36V battery from flat up to 80%.
