Hillview School News
Dear Hillview Community,

Tomorrow begins the second week of our Distance Learning (DL) journey. Time will tell how long it lasts, and we’re glad you’re along for the ride with us. For more details on how our DL program is shifting, see my communication from Friday, March 20 here . We are all doing the best we can during these challenging times and while we will continue to provide engaging learning, know that grace and flexibility are implied in all our communication. Our DL experience needs to be sustainable, and we want everyone to do what they need to do to take care of themselves and their families. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our teachers or to our team through email here .

Hillview Library
Read, Read, Read!
30 minutes each day a simple and effective practice in distant learning.

Strengthen reading comprehension, build vocabulary, a great way to disconnect, manage stress, and an opportunity for parents to enjoy some peace and quiet!

Use our catalog here to search for available books. E mail Aimee Mathenia for questions here
Sora App

A collection of digital eBooks and audio books are available on Sora.

Download the Sora app from Self-Service and then access the Hillview digital library. The "User ID" is a six digit number: 62 + 4 digit iPad passcode.

Parents and guardians must submit attendance for their students. You may report attendance using several methods available on Hillview website here .

If you use the SchoolMessenger App, follow these step-by-step directions:

  • Select Attendance under the drop down main menu
  • Select Report an Absence +, bottom of the screen
  • Select your Student’s name
  • Using the drop down menu select Multiple Day (instead of logging on each day)
  • Using the next drop down menu select Attending School through Distance Learning
  • On the next screen, select March 16, 2020 as the first day of absence
  • Just below First Day, select March 26, 2020 as the last day of absence
  • In the upper right hand corner, press Send

Students must complete the assigned work if marked present. If your student is sick and not able to complete the assigned work, mark your student absent, identify the day as prompted, and use illness as the reason, following the same steps above.
Social Distancing really means Social Distancing

We know that limiting your middle-school student’s interaction with others will be difficult; however, it is medically necessary for them and for the greater community.

COVID-19 may not impact children to the degree it does adults, children are vectors of the disease. Their bodies’ ability to handle the virus better than adults gives the illusion that they are fine, when in actuality they can carry the virus, not even know it, and share it with others. To the extent possible limit unnecessary exposure and interaction.

A great time to craft, hang out with your cat, read a book, talk to friends, jump on a trampoline, play chess...
If you require temporary internet services in your home to access Digital Learning, reach out to Flor Espinal, Family Engagement Coordinator here , for directions on how to access.

Dear MPCSD Parents,

MPAEF volunteer Board of Directors and staff would like to acknowledge and thank our many supporters for your generosity. We have been overwhelmed with your support of our auction event - whether it was through donating the price of your ticket when we had to cancel the party, donating an item for the auction, hosting a party, supporting this year’s fund-a-need or bidding for an item online. All of these small actions are meaningful to our team and will help ensure that the Foundation is able to meet it’s fundraising goals for this school year. From the bottom of our hearts - thank you!
