23,804 Cubic Yards Excavated at NEWSVT in a Day
A New Record!
The Record-Breaking Coventry Crew
June 25, 2020 will go down as the day we beat our record of 21,000 cubic yards excavated on a job in one day!

The entire Coventry team has been working hard at the landfill since May of 2019. The previous record of 21,000 cubic yards excavated, achieved earlier this year on the same job, was shattered last Thursday when the team collectively hit 23,804 cubic yards excavated in a single day. Special shout-out to Scott Peck, who had 73 loads hauled, Dave Morris, who had 72, and Pam Brown, who had 71.

Great job to everyone on this hardworking team for this great accomplishment!
[ What a day!]
Check out the quick video below to see the record day in action.
Project Highlight: Kocher Drive
In May of this year, we started constructing a 1,600-foot concrete shared-use (bike and pedestrian) path along Kocher Drive in Bennington, VT.

We will be removing and replacing guardrails, realigning vehicle lanes, putting in granite curbing, and overlay of existing surfaces. We will also be installing a pre-fabricated pedestrian bridge and signals.

Diesel Warm Up and Cool Down
Diesel engines are not "start-and-go" machines and therefore a warm up period, however brief, is recommended after starting a cold engine.

An appropriate cool down period depends on the situation. Following light/normal driving, for example, a cool down period should not typically exceed 30 seconds. After towing, hauling, or other high load condition, the cool down period should be slightly longer.
