UCA WAVES

WAVES Members' Corner: Voices of Our Community

UCA WAVES in Fayetteville: Pathway for Heroes Program

On February 26, our dedicated staff, Mae and Ivy, hosted a heartwarming birthday lunch for two veterans at the Korean Baptist Church. Mae prepared a delicious feast with ribs, Mapo Tofu, and soup, but it’s about more than just the food; it's about offering connection, support, and a safe space to listen.

In addition, we hosted a Lantern Festival dinner and a heartfelt farewell party for a young man who dedicated the past four years serving in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne. WAVES was proud to stand by him, offering guidance for his new journey, discussing resources, support systems, and ways to ensure a smooth transition. Because supporting our military doesn’t end when the uniform comes off; it’s a lifelong commitment.

Our Pathway for Heroes program focuses on social support : listening to their stories, offering advice, connecting them with essential resources, and celebrating their milestones. These small, meaningful moments make a huge difference in their well-being and remind them that they are valued and never alone.

From a warm meal to a listening ear, WAVES is committed to standing by our heroes, showing them they are always supported.

To all who serve, past and present, we see you, we honor you, and we stand with you.
