What's happening at St Antoninus?

This Sunday:

TWENTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Ordination Anniversary celebration for Fr Peter this Sunday. Immediately after Mass, there will be a reception celebration for Fr Peter Okafor in honor of his 17th Anniversary as a priest of Jesus Christ. This will be held in the lower church. 

Reminder!

√ Today, Sept 2 is First Friday. We will have our 12 Noon Mass in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is followed at 2pm with a Eucharistic Adoration and Alliance of Two Hearts ( Communion of Reparation prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus & Immaculate Heart of Mary ) This will be in the Rectory Chapel. Confessions will be available from 2-5pm.

√ Then tomorrow, Sept 3, we will have our First Saturday Charismatic Healing Mass at 3pm. Come at 2pm for our First Saturday Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This will be in the Lower Church. Confessions will be available from 2pm to 3pm.More inside.


√ The Children’s Religious Education program begins in September. For the Confirmation students, classes begin next  Sunday, Sept 11. For the rest of the children, classes will start on Sept 18. All classes start at 8:15am on Sundays. Please register your children and grandchildren, even if they were previously registered in the last term. Please see Sr Mary Genevieve after Mass to register your children and grandchildren.

Divine Adoration invites you to a one day retreat: “Experience the Power of Praise” on Saturday, Sept 17, 2022 from 9am to 4pm. The anointed speakers include: Fr. Albert Nzeh, Fr Peter Okafor, Fr Joseph Meagher, Ezinne Ibewuike & Nkiru Ike-Egolum . See flyer inside.

Rosary Congress procession & Rosary Vigil . 

Our parish will participate in the National Rosary Congress. The day of our participation is on Sunday, October 9, 2022, beginning with our 9am Holy Hour and 10am Mass.

This is also the Sunday when Bishop Michael Saporito will be with us at Holy Mass to confirm some of our children. 

Following our Mass, we will have a Eucharistic procession around the neighborhood, led by Bishop Saporito and our priests. After a quick & simple lunch, we will proceed to our Eucharistic Adoration & Rosary vigil from 2 pm to 2 am . We need 12 families to lead each of the rosary ( one rosary per hour). INFANT BAPTISM. Expectant parents should call the office to register for the baptism of your baby. and for baptism classes with Fr Joseph. Baptisms at St Antoninus Church are celebrated during Sunday 10am Mass..


CATECHISM CLASSES FOR CHILDREN - take place on Sundays, from 8:15am to 9:15am.


ADULT BAPTISM & other Sacraments of Initiation – call to register.


√ Our new RCIA Class will be starting in September. RCIA stands for: “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.”

This program is for:

- Those who are not baptized and want to inquire about becoming Catholic.

- Those who are non-Catholic Christians and want to consider becoming Catholic.

- and for adult Catholics who have not received Confirmation or Holy Communion.

Today!

Today is FIRST FRIDAY, the day in the month when we most especially honor the SACRED HEART OF JESUS.

 

The celebration of our First Friday Mass is at 12 Noon in the Rectory Chapel.

 

Following Holy Mass and an outdoor Benediction, as well as a quick simple lunch, Fr Joseph will expose Jesus in Blessed Sacrament and we will proceed with Alliance of Two Hearts-Communion of Reparation from 2pm to 5pm. Confessions will be available from 2-5pm.  

 

Let us console the HEART OF JESUS!

Let us together celebrate His love and mercy.

About the Communion of Reparation prayers (Alliance of Two Hearts)

 

Everyone is welcome to join us for the 3 hour Eucharistic vigil, after our First Friday Mass. We will pray the beautiful prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus & Immaculate Heart of Mary, in particular the Nine Offices of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

 

We will attempt to put this on Zoom at 2 pm for those who are unable to come in person.

Scripture Study
Join Fr Peter Okafor at his Scripture Study every Tuesday night at 8pm. The class begins with a video presentation by Dr. Brant Pitre, followed by a teaching and discussion led by Fr Peter.
This is a hybrid class of both in-person & Zoom participants .

Every second Sunday of the month, Children’s ministry of the Liturgy of the Word during our 10am Sunday Mass in the rectory dining room led by Sr. Genevieve Okoro, DMMM and Avon Taylor. 

Join our Cleaning Ministry which meets every second Saturday of the month to do a general cleaning of the Church. Call Doris Okolie at 347 748 5023, coordinator of this mission of love & fellowship.
