The $20 million O2 Resort and Marina development in Bell Channel Bay is well on its way, U.S.-based Project Manager Douglas Galorneau told Grand Bahama News.
“The front exterior wall is completed, the infrastructure – plumbing, electrical, etc., has been installed. The street itself has been cut in and ready to go; much of the landscaping has been installed and put in and the community gazebo is now in place and ready to be used,” Galorneau said.

Twenty-three sport fishing boats sailed into Grand Bahama for the Third Annual Dana’s Tuna Frenzy, which was held July 21-23 at the Blue Marlin Cove Resort and Marina, West End.
Tournament Director Callie Levendowski said the fishing and weigh-in tournament was established following the tragic boating death of Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC) fisheries biologist Dana Katz in 2020, and is set around the time of Katz’s birthday, which was July 19.

The Western Atlantic University School of Medicine needs more Freeport rental properties to list on its housing database as student enrollment continues to rise.
Campus Dean and Professor of Anatomical Sciences Dr. Laura Welke noted that the institution wanted to be proactive as its population grew from 15 to 114 students within a year and estimates that it will grow by 50 more at the beginning of the term in September.

Royal Caribbean recruiters hiring to fill jobs at the cruise line's Perfect Day at CocoCay experience had a choice of 103 candidates who turned out at the company's job fair on Thursday at Pelican Bay Hotel in Port Lucaya.
The job fair was organized with the assistance of the Department of Labour to fill vacancies in food and beverage, island experience, aquatics, housekeeping, and maintenance.

| Another Grand Bahama tradition has returned — the Regency Theatre’s Camp Centre Stage, the summer workshop for children. Twenty children attended the two-week long camp, learning and polishing their acting skills and theater protocols, and wrapped up with a Friday night performance of "The Ballad of Naughty Johnny", written by S.L. Sheppard, adapted from the beloved Bahamian song by Eddie Minnis, which received enthusiastic applause from the audience. | | |

Central Abaco Summer Camp comes to an end
Four fun-filled weeks of FRIENDS' Central Abaco Summer Camp have come to an end! We held camps for ages 3-17 in Marsh Harbour learning about mangroves, coral reefs, pine forests and blue holes, sandy beaches, conservation, environmental impacts and more, reaching 72 kids! When asked about their experience at camp, one parent told us on behalf of her son: "Every day he came home he said it was the best day ever. So each day seemed to get better and better!"

Spay and Neuter Your Pets
Our field staff trapped three dogs early Tuesday morning outside a business establishment on East Atlantic Drive, between Pioneer's Way and Adventurer's Way. They were part of a pack of dogs that have been on the business's property every morning for the past few days, and frequently for the last several months. (See last photo which was taken Saturday morning and depicts several of the 14 dogs that greeted them that morning.) Business owners and residents in the area have made numerous reports complaining about stray dogs knocking over garbage, disturbing the peace and even growling at and chasing people.
