It's Happy Toolidays time again at Hock Tools!

Our kitchen knife kits are particularly popular this time of year - they are quick to make, and our customers are thrilled to make them and give them as gifts.

If you ask me about slicing - and I've done my fair share - I prefer using my slicing knife for carving our annual Thanksgiving Turkey and other meats off the barbecue throughout the year.

A slicing knife has a narrow, thin blade, making it more flexible than a traditional Chef’s knife and better able to turn corners while carving legs, thighs and wings. Flexibility in a slicer, coupled with being thin, long, and sharp makes slicing your turkey or roast almost effortless. I like to see even, thin, and attractive slices of turkey on the Thanksgiving platter.

Hock Tools’ signature 01 tool steel helps keep your slicing knife sharp and easy to re-sharpen. In between turkey carvings you keep it clean and maintained just as you do your other Hock Tools kitchen knives. With a top-quality carbon steel knife, you’ll get the same chef’s patina along with a lot of confidence as the chosen (self or not) turkey carver. Our slicing knives are easy to hone, which I recommend you do before you begin to carve your turkey. I like this how-to video , mainly because he starts with the importance of a sharp knife. Just follow along, then smile your best “aw shucks” smile as family and friends ooh and aah at your awesome knife skills and gorgeous holiday dinner.

We hope you have a peaceful and joyous season

Of course, if there’s anything you need from Hock Tools, please let me know.
