Celebrating 25 Years of Success for Maine's Students
A MESSAGE FROM CRAIG LARRABEE
As President and CEO of JMG, I am so pleased and excited that this year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary. In 1993, the year JMG was incorporated, we served 880 high school seniors. Today, we work with more than 7,000 promising young people, every year, from grades six all the way through post- secondary education and into the workforce. I could not be more proud of our students' accomplishments:
  • 90% graduate from high school in 4 years
  • 87% are in post -secondary education or working one year after graduation
  • Every year our students provide more than 30,000 hours of community service to charities across the state

These young women and men are becoming leaders in their communities, strengthening Maine's workforce, and improving its economy. And, this is happening because of you: our partners from the business community, public schools, community organizations, private funders, volunteers, and other youth advocates.

Over the last quarter of a century, you have helped more than 40,000 Maine students gain the skills, networks, and confidence to succeed in the workforce. And, what better way to commemorate 25 years of shared success than to throw  a party!      Read More
CDC 2018 -  SO MUCH TO CELEBRATE!

Thanks to a long list of volunteers and an amazing events committee, JMG's 2018 annual Career Development Conference (CDC) was a huge success. On March 27, hundreds of high school students from as far north as St. John Valley to as far south as Sanford took over the Thomas College campus in Waterville vying for top awards in a high-stress, career skills competition. Students went head-to-head testing their mettle in public speaking, communications, employment interviews, team challenges and other job-readiness contests. And beyond the competitions, CDC is a chance to celebrate our students' accomplishments, in the classroom and in their communities. Just imagine - 630 students, 80 staff, and 150 representatives from businesses, colleges and organizations across the state coming together to recognize and pay tribute to the grit and determination of Maine's students.

"When you have an opportunity to listen to JMG students share what the program means to them, you start to see that this is more than a class. As many students told me, it's family. This is powerful stuff and I look forward to continuing to support JMG and its students in any way I can."

Students not only scored coveted trophies, they also took home college scholarships. Thanks to the generosity of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, The Procter & Gamble Scholarship Fund, and the Andrew L. Hutchins Scholarships, seven seniors were presented with $7,500 in scholarship funding.

JMG was also honored to present its  Above & Beyond Award  to two important partners: General Dynamics Bath Irons Works  and Bank of America. The awards recognized the two Maine employers for their commitment to, and investment in, the success of JMG students. Bill Williamson, Maine President of Bank of America, said, "JMG gets such strong support from our associates because it effectively delivers on its mission to thousands of Maine students every year. Bank of America believes JMG is one of the most important programs in Maine leading to our eventual success in overcoming our workforce development challenges."

"It's inspirational to see 700 high school students working together using the skills they've mastered in JMG. It's even more exciting to see the students realize how far they've come. These young adults are stars waiting for their chance to shine in Maine's workforce. CDC shows them they're ready!"
