| | Click on the Picture for more Information | | It almost seems as if our country’s 250th Anniversary just received a big kickoff last week when the King and Queen of England arrived for a visit to America! It’s interesting to me how far back our country’s roots go, and how many changes have happened in this relatively short time period. When my grandma turned 90, I remember a conversation with her of all the major things that she had seen and experienced in her lifetime, and if I compare my experiences with hers in just my own lifetime, my list is nearly twice as long. It’s interesting to take a little time and chart all the major world events that have happened in, say, the last 50 years or so, because progress and change keep coming into our world at a faster and larger space and pace. Heck, just look at the rapid changes with just one item like the phone! In my lifetime alone, I remember many people had “party lines”, switchboard operators, Grandma’s first phone number was 675J, then we went to RA4-1624, and then on to rotary dials, push button dials (remember The Princess phone???), the colors, and now to watch phones and so many more choices, like conversations to and from the moon. And while I realize that quilts pale in comparison to history, I know that they have had many important roles to play in the history of America.
