This month, our nation celebrates 250 years of a promise: that in this country, through hard work and opportunity, anyone can build the life they dream of. 

As an immigrant, I know this promise is powerful -- but it is not guaranteed. It is something we pursue. And for so many families in our community, it is something that requires a hand reaching back to help pull others forward. 

At Hispanic Unity of Florida, we have proudly been that hand for 44 years. 

Since 1982, more than 618,000 people have walked through our doors -- each one carrying a need, an idea, or a dream. They seek stability, a career, a first home, a path to citizenship, or simply someone who believes in them. And they leave with tools, skills, and renewed hope. That is our commitment: that everyone -- regardless of where they come from -- has the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. 

This 4th of July, as fireworks light up the sky across our country, we celebrate 250 years of this nation’s promise and 44 years of helping our community claim it.

When HUF was founded in 1982, South Florida looked different, and so did the challenges facing immigrant and working families. Over four decades, much has changed. The need for opportunity, guidance, and community never has.
