25th Anniversary Fountain Newsletter
May/June 2021 Issue
Hello AFA family and friends,

Welcome to the last Fountain of the 2020-2021 school year.

We thank God for a full year of in-person learning! What a joy it has been to learn and grow together.

We also want to thank each of our donors for helping us surpass our Growing Deeper Roots campaign goal! This places us on solid financial footing as we begin exploring options for a permanent campus for our school.

Finally, a huge congratulations to the class of 2021! We can't wait to see how God continues to use you as servant leaders in your colleges and communities. Stay in touch!

Lower School Activities
First Grade Greek Feast
Our teachers and parents made our First Grade Greek Feast incredibly special!
Second Grade Medieval Feast
Hear ye! Hear ye! Queen Polizzi summonded all the lords and ladies of Second Gradelandia to a Medieval Feast. They enjoyed food and contests befitting the era.
Third Grade Sully History Site Field Trip
The Third Grade recently explored Sully Historic Site to experience our own local colonial history. Finished in 1799, Sully was the home of Richard Bland Lee who became Northern Virginia's first representative in Congress.
Fourth Grade Archaeology
Archaeologists in the making! Our inquisitive Fourth Graders learned how to excavate last week and then practiced logging their finds. It was a successful dig!
Fifth Grade Living History
Our Fifth Grade scholars shared their Medieval Living History presentations with their parents and fellow students, and then rounded out the day with entertainment and treats!
Fun Run
Fun Run was a success! Our Running Club participants demonstrated their stick-with-it attitude and completed their choice of a 1, 2 or 3 mile course.

Thanks to Coach Stewart for making Fun Run fun along with her parent and student helpers!
Ephesians Recitation
Each Lower School class memorized a chapter of Ephesians this year and recited it (via Zoom) during chapel. In one morning, the entire Lower School heard Ephesians in its entirety.
A Selection of Artwork
Our students have done some incredible work this year!
Upper School Activities
Senior Thesis Presentations
We're so proud of our seniors! They've completed and defended their theses - the culmination of their classical education.
High School Spring Dance
What a joy it was for our 9th through 12th graders to end the year with an evening of fine dining and dance! They got to show off the skills they've been learning in their ballroom dance class throughout the year.
Senior Trip
The Senior class made lots of special memories on their trip to Bethany Beach.
Student Recognition
Rising 7th Graders
Congratulations to our newly-promoted 7th Grade students! They've done an incredible job finishing the grammar stage of their learning in the Lower School and are ready to advance to the logic stage of their learning in the Upper School.
Upper School Awards Ceremony
We had a lovely ceremony to recognize the outstanding character and accomplishments of our staff and students.
Congratulations to the class of 2021! We are proud of your hard work to tackle a challenging year with courage, commitment, and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing where God leads you in the coming years!
GDR Campaign Success
With the support of 289 donors, we've surpassed our $250,000 campaign goal and raised $274,196. Thank you for your help in strengthening our school's financial footing and paving the way toward the goal of purchasing our own property!
Thank you for reading our newsletter, The Fountain! We hope we have provided content that gives you a deeper connection not only to the mission of AFA, but also to the people that make up this great school community!
