July makes it official; we’re half-way through 2025. Speaking of official, we officially got our temporary stock occupancy permit for our new space so it looks like we will be having our Grand Opening party combined with our 25th Anniversary Rock Fest Celebration August 8-9-10. In 2014 the Austin City Council declared August 8th as Nature’s Treasures Day. Now we honor that designation every year with Rock Fest, "the only Rock Fest that's all about rocks!" It just so happens that August 8th has not fallen on a Friday since our inaugural Rock Fest Celebration in 2014. That's 11 YEARS AGO! Get more of the details below and mark your calendars for that weekend. A good time will be had by all!
On July 10, 2025, the full moon, traditionally known as the Buck Moon, will reach peak illumination, Named by early Native American tribes, they noted that male deer (bucks) began growing fresh antlers during this time. If sky’s are clear, look east shortly after sunset to see the moon rising, and if it’s low on the horizon, it may glow a warm golden hue. During a summer haze, it can even appear red or orange, creating a stunning natural spectacle. What a wonderful and powerful way to connect with nature!
| During July into August, stargazers can enjoy three meteor showers that light up the night sky: the ALPHA CAP RICORNIDS (active 7/12 through 8/12) peaks around July 30th and is known for its slow moving yet occasionally bright fireballs; the SOUTHERN DELTA AQUARIIDS (7/18–8/12) is peeking on July 29-30 with up to 15 to 20 meteors per hour under dark skies; and the iconic PERSEIDS meteorites, begin in mid July and will shine brightest around August 12–13, although this year‘s August full moon may dim some of their glow. All three showers should offer excellent celestial opportunities to catch a falling star for those who step outside into the late night hours. | |

The Big Move is happening!
Here's what you need to know.
If you're local to Austin, you may know we've been affected by the expansion of IH-35 and have been preparing to move to a new location for quite some time now. Well, the time has finally come! Thank you for supporting our business! We are so grateful not only to serve Austin, but to be able to ship our products all over North America.
Lights, security cameras, ACTION! In addition to having finished installing lights, internet, security, and a working fire alarm system, we are working on final touch-ups, exterior signage, and window vinyls for our new location, so keep an eye out for those updates!
We're moving each department separately over the next few weeks, and the Rock Yard and Online Department have already been relocated! We're dedicated to keeping our online store open and getting unpacked and settled as soon as possible. You can expect a shipping delay of 5-7 days on any orders placed over the next few days. Next up we will be moving our backstock and some offices, but you can expect to start seeing items disappearing from our Retail Showroom as early as tomorrow (Saturday, 7/5)! We will do our best to keep a small selection available either at the 4103 Front Counter or 11055 Crystal Boutique.
For now, feel free to continue shopping at our 4103 North IH 35 location and 11055 Crystal Boutique for most things, and enjoy some pictures of the new space!

Astrology Overview for July 2025!
If you can’t take the heat, then you might need more air conditioning. This month’s astrology is brimming with emotion, and the planetary forecast says each zodiac sign will be in the hot seat.
Just generally, a lot is happening for those of you who have planets at the 1-3° in any sign. Pluto is at 3° in Aquarius, Uranus at 00° in Gemini, and Jupiter at 3° Cancer, squaring the Saturn-Neptune conjunction at 1° and 2° Aries respectively. See where these 0-3° planets fall in your chart, and which house areas, as they are being very activated by these planets for the coming year, in good or conflicting ways, depending on the angles.
A temperamental tone sets the mood as the month begins with Cancer season in session. An unexpected turn regarding a commitment or relationship may follow, as Venus in Taurus aligns with freedom-seeking Uranus on July 4. Expect a sudden change in plans, especially if you are holding out on a person or financial opportunity. Although the change might be disappointing, you’ll still have plenty of options once Venus enters Gemini shortly after. Take your time to get clear on what you’re looking for in love and finances, as Neptune stations retrograde in Aries on July 4, which will occur at 1°.

| | Featured Stone: Flower Garden Agate | | |
Flower garden agate is from the Big Bend area of Texas near Alpine. It is a plume agate that comes in striking reds, yellows and oranges, with some containing deep greens and bright whites. The name is derived from the patterns which often appear floral like. The material we’re selling as cabochons and rough was likely collected around the 1970’s.
Flower garden agate is volcanically formed and occasionally contains botryoidal formations that may have tubes and orbs of color when cut across its face. The agates are found and made in an area called the Trans Pecos Volcanic Field in varying igneous formations near the Paisano Volcanic Field. Interestingly, the processes that formed this region share a similar history with the Appalachian Mountains in what is called the Ouachita Orogeny.
This created the setting for these agates that we now chop up and admire in the Rock Depot!
