Cook County COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program The deadline to apply for the Cook County COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program has been extended until August 24. The Cook County COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program helps suburban Cook County residents having difficulty paying their rent as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It pays up to three months of overdue or future rent. Rental payments will be sent directly to landlords by the Housing Authority of Cook County. The program is part of the Cook County Community Recovery Initiative, funded by the federal CARES Act. For more information or to apply, visit the Rental Assistance Program website. The Together Now Fund has begun accepting applications for the second round of grants for Chicago businesses and non-profits. Businesses that continue to suffer from the impacts of COVID-19 are eligible to apply for operational grants of $4,000 each.   Applications are available now at chicago.gov/togethernow and the application will remain open until August 31 at 11:59pm.   To be eligible, businesses must have 100 or fewer employees and have experienced economic distress and loss due to COVID-19. New Resources for City Residents to keep their homes! Starting August 24, the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) is taking Applications for the 'EMERGENCY MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE' program to provide assistance to homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments because of a loss of income due to the COVID-19 crisis. Homeowners can be eligible for up to $15,000 toward their mortgage payments - or less if the amount past due is less.
