He is the Owner/Creative Director of Fourth World Creative, an indigenous design studio and clothing label. He is a 2010 Graduate Fellow of the First Nations Development Institute's LEAD fellowship for Native American nonprofit leaders, and a 2010 Graduate Fellow of the Center for Progressive Leadership's political leaders fellowship. Community Feature: ---->Denver Homeless Out Loud (DHOL) works as people who have experience with homelessness and allies to help protect and advocate for dignity, rights and choices for people experiencing homelessness. We put out a magazine by, for and about people experiencing homelessness; we are running the Right to Rest Act in Colorado to decriminalize basic acts of survival in public space; and we recently built five Tiny Homes as the start of Resurrection Village (a self governed Tiny Home Village for people without housing) and placed them on Denver Housing Authority land slated to be sold off to private developers for un-affordable housing and were arrested and our homes stolen - we now are camped outside of this land demanding land for our village.

Take me to a place
where we stop underestimating ourselves,
where there is no such feeling that overwhelms.
I am begging!
Take me to a place
where we do not have to worry
if we have enough money,
where a man can cry
without it being considered unmanly,
a place where no one goes hungry.
More than anything,
take me to a place
where there is peace!
I grasp my language in my hands,
never letting go.
If I do,
I will lose everything that I am.
Even if I am hundreds of miles away from home,
I will always remember who I am.
I belong to the Water Edge clan
and the Coyote clan.
This is who I am
and this is who I will always be.
I will always remember who I am.
We continue working with
Mi Casa @ Lake
(after-school).

Xpress Yourself Basic Spoken Word Workshops for Youth (#XpressYourself) |
We have worked with numerous schools and organizations throughout Colorado to give underserved youth an opportunity to express themselves. Recent partners: Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition, Fuerte Youth Conference @ UNC, East High School.
If you are interested
in having Cafe Cultura present at your school or organization, feel free to contact us. Our
basic version
is a
one time, 1 to 2 hour
session
. We have used this
highly engaging
and
culturally relevant
workshop structure for over eight years to encourage Chicana/o and Native youth to use spoken word to give voice to our stories of love, struggle, injustice, and celebration. They serve to
supplement and support Language Arts/English curriculum
. Workshop structure was designed by a spoken word artist with 4 years experience teaching at the middle and high school level with contributions from other poets and youth advocates.Click here for a detailed information sheet.

We also appreciate and congratulate the graduates of this summer's Words to Actions Youth Leadership Program. Shout out to the volunteers who helped make this event possible.
