This is the Season of the Peace and Global Witness offering – one of four PCUSA offerings. In these days, we certainly need the witness of peace and the call of peacemaking from the Gospel. The PCUSA has a seasonal devotional to accompany the offering called, A Season of Peace. If you would like to subscribe to this seasonal devotional, you may do so here. There is also more information at the link about the offering itself.
The offerings will be on September 28th and October 5th.

Greetings friends,
We learned last week that Jack Rosamond will be moving on at the end of the month. He has been offered an amazing opportunity to work at the University of Tennessee in their office of Digital Learning. While we are sad to see him go, we celebrate this next chapter in his life with him. His last day in the office will be September 25th. We have already hired a replacement with 7 years of Church Administrator experience. However, she cannot start until January 1st. The Personnel Team has some ideas about what to do for the interim and we will let you know when those plans are finalized. In the meantime, please take the opportunity to thank Jack for his service to this congregation.
Pastor Tim
Here's a note from Jack:
Hey everyone! Jack here. I have some updates about my future here at 2nd Presbyterian.
About a week ago, I received a job offer to work at the University of Tennessee, in their office of Digital Learning. I have since accepted this offer and will begin my new position there on October 6th. This is not a decision I made lightly, nor one that comes without sadness. I have truly loved my time here at Second, and I genuinely wish that it could’ve lasted longer. This was simply an offer I could not refuse, with benefits and experience that will set me up for success in the long run.
You all have taught me lessons about being a professional, have been patient with me as I navigated my first “adult job”, and have been the best group of people I could have hoped to work with. I will miss all of you dearly, and I hope that we can all keep in touch.
Thank you all for everything over the past year. I have truly loved coming to work every day.
Jack

The Pastor’s Bible Study will resume on Thursday, September 25th at 10:30 a.m. in the Barbour Room.
PLEASE NOTE!!!:
This is a change of day from what was previously announced. We will be meeting on Thursdays, not Tuesdays.
| | We are re-starting our handbell choir. Rehearsals will be on Sundays at 1:00 p.m. No prior experience is necessary. You don’t even have to read music! As long as you count and are willing to be part of a fun group of people making music together, you can be part of the handbell choir. Let us know of your interest by scanning the QR code, clicking the above image, calling the church office, or letting Matt Mimbs know. | | At its most recent meeting, the Worship Team discussed our summer seating arrangement and determined that it has been so successful we will continue it for the foreseeable future. | | |
We are meeting in the Barbour Room at 9:30 a.m. This class studies current events through the lens of faith using a weekly curriculum called The Wired Word.
All are invited – join us!

Helping Address
Food Insecurity in
Knox County!
| | |
We are no longer asking for specific household and personal items to be purchased and delivered to the church, and the Fish drop-off bin has been removed. However, we do need specific funding to continue this long-time mission of the church. Once per month, our dedicated Fish volunteers buy, pack, and deliver food and household/personal items to families and individuals all over Knox County who call in need.
To positively impact food insecurity in Knox County, please consider giving directly to our church's Fish designated fund, from which all food, personal, and household item purchases are paid. To contribute, you can do so via Realm (click on "Giving," then "Fish" in the drop-down), or the church website (click on "Giving," then Fish in the drop-down), or by check ("Fish fund" in the memo line). Recurring donations would be most helpful.
