2nd & PCH Transportation Taskforce Launched to Improve Coordination between City of Long Beach and Caltrans
LONG BEACH, CA - Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal and Councilmember Kristina Duggan launch a Transportation Taskforce to improve coordination between Caltrans and the City of Long Beach at the 2nd Street and Pacific Coast Highway intersection.
“We know the 2nd and PCH intersection is impacted by traffic and with new housing coming to the area in the next several years, we need to improve coordination between the State and City”, said Councilmember Kristina Duggan. “I am thankful Assemblymember Lowenthal and Caltrans are committed to partnering with the City of Long Beach to see how we can improve this intersection.”
The 2nd & PCH Transportation Taskforce will convene representatives from the City of Long Beach and Caltrans to make short-term adjustments including updating signal timing and improve communication on capital projects that impact the 2nd and PCH intersection.
“Thank you to Councilmember Duggan and the staff of Caltrans for coming together to address the current and potential traffic concerns around the 2nd and PCH intersection. I look forward to working with all the stakeholders involved to ensure clear communication and that we have a safe and efficient gateway into the city of Long Beach,” said Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal.
“Caltrans District 7 (Los Angeles) is pleased to collaborate with Assemblymember Lowenthal, Councilmember Duggan, and the City of Long Beach to continue our efforts to provide safe and reliable transportation along Pacific Coast Highway in the City of Long Beach,” said District Director Gloria Roberts.
