#30 Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2022
3rd Time Ranked in 5 Years
The Original Cult Washington Winery
DeLille Cellars "D2" 2019
To all Artisans,

This absolutely gorgeous Washington stunner just arrived and we're elated to share it with you. It's a longtime Artisan favorite as well as a two-time previous WS Top 100 alum.

This classy Left-Bank-Bordeaux-Styled Cab has it all, and we highly recommend it to the most discerning palates with confidence. It's the 'goldilocks' for all collectors of both New and Old World noble blends—whether from Bordeaux, Tuscany, Sonoma, Chile, Napa, and beyond.

The firm and fine tannins, deep espresso, dark chocolate, cassis, clove spice, graphite, sweet leather and tobacco notes are all really sublime at this price—one we negotiated down to offer the lowest in this country.

More About: DeLille Cellars is a boutique artisan winery located in Woodinville, Washington. The winery was founded in 1992 by Charles and Greg Lill, Jay Soloff and celebrated winemaker Chris Upchurch. Today winemaking is in the capable hands of Jason Gorski, who began at DeLille in 2011 and was officially named winemaker in 2014, and Nick Bernstein, who joined DeLille back in 2012 after winemaking stints in New Zealand, Sonoma and Santa Barbara. The mission at DeLille Cellars has always been to create a new Bordeaux blend using Washington State vineyards. From the beginning, the winery has looked towards the prestigious Red Mountain AVA as the foundation of its wines, using grapes from its own vineyards in combination with fruit from other top sites in the Yakima Valley.

D2 takes its name from the grand route du vin, or great wine road that travels through the historic chateau region of Bordeaux. Always leading with Merlot, D2 is a traditional Bordeaux-style blend sourced from over a dozen of the state’s most prestigious vineyards across the Columbia Valley to create the ultimate expression of Washington State terroir. Created as a second wine to Chaleur Estate, D2 has become the winery’s most sought-after label. This Merlot-heavy blend is perfect with this vegetarian butternut squash risotto with black truffle. For the carnivorous, the winery recommends you add a short rib on top. Vegetarian or not, everyone is happy.

Our team worked nonstop to secure as many of Wine Spectator's list of the Top 100 Wines of 2022 as we could. We're proud to have over 30 of the wines and counting! Check the collection every day this week for the new additions as they're confirmed.

We also have 39 perfectly-aged bottles left of DeLille's Doyenne "Aix" 2010. Their Provencal-style blend of Syrah, Cabernet, and a smidge of Mourvedre, is drinking sublime right now at an unbelievable price of $34.97.

Cheers,
—James Tran

94 Points, #30 Top 100 of '22 - Wine Spectator:
"Polish meets structure in this red, which offers well-defined black cherry, toasty spice and bay leaf accents as this slowly unfurls toward fine-grained tannins. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2030. 15,000 cases made." -TF (8/22)

94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2019 D2 (60% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) is terrific, with a ruby/purple hue as well as gorgeous cassis and black cherry fruits, notes of spicy, dried herbs, and lead pencil, medium to full body, and a pure, balanced, undeniably delicious profile. It’s going to keep for 15-20 years and is one heck of a wine." (7/21)

2010 DeLille Cellars "Doyenne Aix"
Perfectly Aged Povencal Style Red
Yakima Valley, Washington

91 Points - Vinous:
"(51% syrah, 43% cabernet sauvignon and 6% mourvedre): Bright red. Aromas of blackberry and licorice are complicated by spicy oak and white pepper. Juicy, spicy and penetrating, with lovely intensity to the youthfully tight red berry flavors. Finishes sweet and long, with firm but harmonious tannins. I'd give this at least a year in the cellar before pulling the cork." -Stephen Tanzer (11/13)

90 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Firm tannins surround a juicy core of blackberry, tobacco, tomato leaf and wet stone flavors. A complex and formidable red that needs cellaring to soften the tough texture. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvèdre. 2,000 cases made." -HS (June 15, 2013)
