Help Families in Need Celebrate Passover

Can you imagine a Passover table that is not filled with holiday food? For many seniors and families in need, this is their reality. With skyrocketing energy prices, benefit reductions and fixed incomes, little is left to purchase Passover food for hundreds of people in our community. Please help us ensure that those in need are able to observe their traditions and celebrate the holiday.

Your generous donation will help local families observe the holiday with essential food items for the Passover table. To make a donation, please visit our website or contact us at 732-777-1940 to learn more. Thank you for your continued support and for helping us make Passover a little brighter for local families in need.

Feeding Our Neighbors in Need

On March 10th, staff from JFS Kosher Food Pantries distributed food to parents at Acelero Learning Center in Perth Amboy. Collaborating with local schools and family service centers helps us reach more Middlesex County residents in need. JFS staff presented to Acelero's parent group, familiarizing them with JFS resources including essential food for their families, immigration and citizenship assistance, career services, counseling and more.

To donate to JFS Kosher Food Pantries to help us feed local families in need, visit our website or call 732-777-1940. Thank you to everyone involved in making this event a success and to all of our generous donors.

Volunteering Is a Family Affair

At JFS, we rely on each one of our incredible volunteers to help us serve more families in need in Middlesex County. For Miss M, a high school student who has been volunteering with us since December 2022, the time spent in the JFS Kosher Food Pantry each week means building memories with her grandmother while helping those less fortunate in our community.

For this grandmother-granddaughter duo, volunteering at JFS Middlesex is more than just a family affair. With both her parents and grandmother being influential role models, Miss M sees the importance and value in helping others in need in the community. We thank Miss M and her grandmother, Mrs. A, for volunteering their time with JFS, helping us feed more families in need each week.

In just the first two months of this year, JFS has given out more than 450 bags of food to more than 500 people, twice as many as the same time last year. Volunteers and donors who support our Kosher Food Pantries continue to be critical in helping us meet the growing need in our community, especially as funding has been drastically cut for our food pantry program. To donate to feed local families in need, visit our website or call 732-777-1940 to learn more about community food drives and volunteering at JFS.

Get to Know JFS...

Each week, we will spotlight a JFS program in our Get to Know JFS Series – This week is our Volunteer Services.

Volunteers who dedicate their unique talents, skills and knowledge to JFS are indispensable to us and the work we do. JFS Volunteer Services connects volunteers to JFS programs or to programs in the greater Middlesex County area via the RSVP program (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program). Volunteering has been proven to benefit both mental and physical health, providing a positive and enriching experience for volunteers and clients alike.

We welcome individuals, groups and/or corporations who wish to volunteer, fundraise or lead a donation drive on behalf of JFS or one of our programs. If you're interested in volunteering, reach out to Michelle at michelleb@jfsmiddlesex.org or call 732-777-1940.
