Advocacy Efforts
Shona Huffman, Director of Governmental Affairs and a City Council member, and Will Sowell, Mayor Pro-tem were among those who testified this week before the Texas State Senate Committee on Finance, expressing concerns over Senate Bill 2, the Texas Property Tax Reform and Relief Act. SB 2 is a bill the Frisco Chamber of Commerce is opposed to because of the impact to public safety and services, without really addressing a true reduction in property tax. SB 2 only addresses a small portion (approximately 20%) of your property tax bill while ignoring the balance, which is largely related to school finance reform. This would put the control of your local tax dollars further away from the voter at the state level.

Frisco was also represented by Mayor Maher Maso, Ben Brezina, Intergovernmental Relations Manager, Frisco Fire Chief Mark Piland, and Frisco Police Chief John Bruce. Archived video can be found HERE with Mayor Maso speaking at 2:20 minutes, Will Sowell at 44:01 followed by Shona Huffman at 46.18 minutes on the video.
