Student Dismissal March 16-27
Dear Rowland Unified Families,
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we all navigate through these unprecedented times and the rapidly evolving COVID-19/coronavirus situation. While our students are dismissed from school, March 16 – March 27, District and school staff members are here for you and your family to provide support and answer questions. Please check our District website www.rowlandschools.org , for the most up to date information and resources.

The health and safety of our students, staff and community are our top priority. On Friday, out of an abundance of caution and in an effort to curtail the spread of COVID-19, our Board of Education held an emergency meeting and approved a student dismissal from March 16 – March 27, followed by our Spring Break which is March 28 – April 3, 2020. This decision was following the direction of the Los Angeles County Office of Education and the Governor’s Office. At this time, there are no known cases of the coronavirus/COVID-19 in our schools or District.

Below is important information to share with you:

Free To-Go Student Meals: Starting tomorrow, Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27, any child/person in our community, 18 years old or younger, will be able to pick up To-Go meals at school locations from 11 AM to 1 PM. Each day participants will receive lunch for that day and breakfast for the following day. *Children must be present to receive meals . ( Location of meals may change.)

*As of Monday, March 16: Schools that will NOT have To-Go Meals:

  • Shelyn

Student Learning: Monday evening you will receive information from your school about lessons for the continuity of learning during student dismissal.

Please know that dismissing our students from school is not an easy decision. We understand the hardship and challenges that this will cause our families. The health and safety of our students, staff, and community are of the utmost importance.

We encourage you to check your email, Peachjar, the RUSD mobile app and phone for updated information. Please use the hotlines as a resource and access our District coronavirus section for frequent updates.

Remember to continue staying healthy by practicing safety measures such as frequent hand washing for 20 seconds, social distancing of 6 feet, and cover coughing with a tissue or your elbow.
