PIE Provides Special Treats for Teachers & Students on St. Patrick's Day

The PIE leprechauns brought a pot of chocolate gold to the teachers on the morning of St. Patrick's Day! Check out all the pictures above of all of the yummy treats. PIE also treated students to Irish kisses, Lucky Charm bars, green grapes and shamrock cookies at lunch. Check out the photos of the treats for the students below.

This resource provides a plethora of useful hints ranging from planning for college to writing effective college essays.


National Honor Society Students Offer Peer Mentoring

Does your student need help with time management and effective studying? You can now request peer help and mentorship in time management and workflow assistance through the National Honor Society at AMHS.

AMHS Students Dominate at HOSA State Convention

Academic Magnet High School’s Future Health Occupations chapter dominated at the 2026 Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Convention last Thursday and Friday, March 12th and

13th, bringing home a record 21 first through fifth place finishes!


All students placing first, second, and third automatically qualify for nationals, which will take place June 17th-20th in Indianapolis, IN. Fourth and fifth place finishers also have a chance of being invited to

nationals if other schools are unable to attend.


HOSA seeks to “empower future health professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience.”

Mock Trial Team Finishes Ninth in the State

At this past weekend’s State Mock Trial competition, our Raptors came in 9th out of 12 total teams with a number of individual accolades. Kudos, too, go to coaches Mr. Crye and Mr. Tierney for all their work. Individual acknowledgements included the following: 

  • Most Effective Witness in Round 2: Noah Field
  • Most Effective Attorney in Round 2: Jack Tierney
  • Most Effective Witness in Round 3: Jaime Gullo

The Meeting Street Scholarship Fund provides up to $10,000 per year in college scholarships for high-achieving South Carolina students with a demonstrated financial need (who will be attending an eligible South Carolina college/university).

We're accepting scholarship applications for the 2025-26 school year from January - May. Learn more and apply now at this link.

Community Service + Activities

Guidance counselors will regularly post opportunities for service on students' Canvas page and those are also sometimes shared on AMHS social media accounts. Students are encouraged to find opportunities for service in their own communities. Additional opportunties that are shared with the Raptor Report are listed below.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is hosting the 2026 Walk MS on Saturday, April 11th at the James Island County Park, Wappoo Shelter. Volunteers are needed!

Volunteers are needed for the annual Walk for Autism on Saturday April 25th, 2026 from 7 am to 1:30 pm. Any students wishing to volunteer can come for part of the hours or all. If interested in volunteering please contact Rose O'Neal at 843.553.1316 or rrzoneal@hotmail.com. Volunteers will be needed in several tasks: setting up tables and tents, manning jump castles, food stations, silent auction tables, merchandise table, ticket sales and at the end of the event breaking down tables and tents along with clean up.
