Head's Note
Over the coming weeks, we will begin to interview for three positions for the 2020-21 school year. Our first grade assistant, Guinness Harley, will be focusing on lower school strings instruction next year, and we are conducting a search for a new classroom assistant to work with Jessica Nichols. Shannon Gahagan will be transitioning to another position next year and Crossroads will be searching for a new K-8 Spanish language teacher. And we will be conducting a search for a sixth grade homeroom, English and composition teacher. This new position will also have several middle school duties and serve as an advisor, allowing Holly Gardner to take on greater administrative duties while continuing to teach performing arts and direct the musical. Each of these searches will be conducted by a committee who will interview candidates and observe teaching demonstrations. We have already received applications from excellent candidates and as these positions are filled, we will share the new faculty appointments with our community in the
Weekly News
.
Yours truly, Brad

The State of New Hampshire has announced they are testing and observing a patient from the Upper Valley for COVID-19, also simply known as “coronavirus 2019.” Crossroads is actively monitoring the evolving environment concerning COVID-19 with a focus on how to best care for and protect our students and staff. Our efforts are focused on
prevention practices and a virtual school continuity plan. We are not anticipating a school closure but want our families to know we are developing a plan in the case it is required or recommended by the State of New Hampshire or CDC.

As part of their character education project, sixth graders Emily, Piper, and Henry recently initiated a food drive for the Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society. What a great display of empathy!

Gwen stepped down from her part-time position at the end of February. Over the last few years, Gwen oversaw our lunch program, supervised study halls, facilitated middle school community service opportunities, and so much more.
We will also miss Gwen’s valuable contributions to the Parents Association.
Please join us in wishing Gwen and the Martin family all the best in their next chapter!
Thank you for everything, Gwen!

March Birthday Book Club!
|
Does your son or daughter have a birthday in February? Consider celebrating by participating in the Birthday Book Club! By purchasing a book from the library’s wishlist, your child may decorate a bookplate, celebrate during library time, and take a photo with their book for our birthday book wall. Then, they can donate the book to the library’s permanent collection.
Families with student birthdays in February have been contacted individually via email with more details on how to participate.

Greetings from the Crossroads Summer Program!
I am excited to announce that Crossroads Academy will be offering another engaging and fun-filled ten-week summer program. Beginning the week of June 15, there will be a series of one-week programs being offered for children ages 3-5, 6-9, and 9-13. Crossroads faculty and other experienced educators will offer a wide range of programs to discover new interests and deepen student learning. We will once again partner with The Montshire Museum of Science, AVA Gallery and Art Center, and the Upper Valley Music Center to host their programs on our campus. While there are already many offerings listed on our website, new listings will be added regularly over the next few months. Daily programs run from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, but early drop off is available beginning at 8:00 am and a free after-care program is offered every day until 5:00 pm.
Please share this information with your friends. Summer Programs are a great way for new families to experience Crossroads!
I look forward to sharing the summer with you. Think summer!

Every teacher I know has had this experience: As students transition from a previous activity, they sometimes require feedback and guidance to settle at their desks before a new lesson can begin.
