Maximize the Potential!

Dear Friend of CCSD93,

Messages From

Superintendent Hill:

As a reminder, parents are encouraged to save the date for CCSD93’s Parenting in the Age of Social Media presentation on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the district’s Administrative Offices (230 Covington Drive, Bloomingdale) or live online at www.ccsd93.com/sm. Spanish translators will be available on site and the live stream will also be archived for later viewing.

School Resource Officers Phil Jaffe of the Bloomingdale Police Department and Tom Andrejevic of the Carol Stream Police Department will share:

  • Valuable insights on the lasting impact of a child’s online behavior.
  • Potential social media pitfalls that every parent should be aware of.
  • Key tips and practical information to help children navigate today’s digital world safely and responsibly.
  • A Q&A session.

Whether or not you plan to attend our event, all parents are encouraged to consider their child’s relationship with social media. As I have previously shared with you, this 2023 U.S. Surgeon General’s public health advisory is an eye-opening resource on the matter. While it contains much valuable information, the following stands out:

  • Excessive social media use is strongly linked to increased rates of depression and anxiety among adolescents, with those spending over three hours daily facing twice the risk of poor mental health.
  • Experts suggest limiting use to 30 minutes per day or delaying access until at least age 16 to mitigate these harmful effects.

STEAM Camp Returns This Summer:

Register Starting 4/7!

CCSD93's STEAM Camp is returning this summer! Current 1st-7th graders can register to attend for the week to experience immersive science, technology, engineering, arts and math activities taught by CCSD93 teachers.

It will take place June 23-27 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. each day at Cloverdale School. The cost is $120 and includes a t-shirt. Students who receive free meals through the National School Lunch Program will be eligible for a fee waiver. There are a limited number of seats, which will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Bussing will be provided to and from each CCSD93 elementary and middle school.

Registration opens April 7 and runs through April 18 at www.ccsd93.com/STEAM. Save the date to register then!

Donate to Community-Wide Food Drive

at D93 Schools 3/24-4/11

Starting next week, March 24-28, and continuing after spring break, April 7-11, CCSD93’s schools once again ask families to donate to the Community-Wide Food Drive, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Carol Stream. It helps to restock local food pantries that serve all of CCSD93’s communities.

Please consider to donating nonperishable food items and other household essentials like toiletries and diapers to help neighbors in need.

For more information about what to donate, view this flyer.

Please Take 5Essentials Survey by 3/28

Parents are invited to help improve our schools by sharing feedback through the Illinois State Board of Education’s 5Essentials Survey! This 10-minute survey provides insight into the effectiveness of our schools.

Our goal is for 20% of parents to respond by the deadline of March 28. Please take the survey at www.ccsd93.com/5E when you’re able!

No School 3/31-4/4 for Spring Break;

Need Childcare?

There will be no school March 31-April 4 for spring break, and school will resume on Monday, April 7. If you need childcare, the Carol Stream Park District's ActivKids program has you covered! Visit this website to view availability and to register.
