The Morning Star Weekly Newsletter Vol 5, Edition 29 3/23/2021
Dear Morning Star Families and Friends,

As we are in the final weeks of Lent, I reflect upon the opportunities that our students and staff have had to take this time to turn their attention closer to God here at school and within their homes. Our students have prayed the Stations of the Cross weekly and reflected on Jesus’ love for us in their classes.

Lent is also a time for us to consider the areas in our lives that we may struggle in and need to allow God to take control of. Our students have another opportunity to receive God’s grace this Lent. On Monday, March 29, Father Boddie will visit our school to hear confessions for our students. We are grateful to Father Boddie, because not only can our students receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, but they are able to receive it in a comfortable, familiar place.

Please encourage your children to seek Jesus’ forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Many blessings to you and your family as we continue to journey through Lent.

God bless,
Elaine Shott, Principal

Games and Silent auctions are a great way to maximize revenue for our school. And no event would be complete without fun prizes and a few tables filled with exciting auction packages. Items such as travel/dining experiences, sporting event tickets, beauty and spa certificates, sports memorabilia, music and entertainment venues, family outings, technology, gift baskets, jewelry and high-end items are just a few ideas. And of course, monetary donations are always appreciated. No item is too small or too large. We will put anything you provide to good use.
In addition to items your family donates, please ask the businesses you frequent to also help out. Click HERE to print a “Community Partner” letter that you may use when speaking to a business. Please make sure to also complete a donation form so we can thank you (and others) properly. Click HERE to print the donation form.

Our Morning Start therapy dog in training is happy, healthy, and growing strong. He is now 6 weeks old! You will start to see some items (kennel, toys, etc.) come into school as we prepare for Mission's arrival.
Our eighth grade Confirmation candidates, who are parishioners at Christ the King Parish, had the opportunity to join with youths from across the diocese to participate in MPact. MPact is a program which offers a day of service for middle schoolers which allows them to participate in meaningful service, prayer, worship, and fellowship.

Our students were assigned two different work centers for the day. First, we went to the Emergency Pregnancy Center. We raked and bagged leaves, weeded, and laid mulch in the planter areas. After breaking for a picnic lunch, we traveled to Somer’s Garden which is a community garden dedicated to a young girl who tragically lost her life. Here our students pulled weeds, planted herbs and vegetable plants, and laid compost and mulch. I was amazed at our students’ willingness to give of their time and talents and to work hard for others. What a wonderful example our students’ way of serving just as Christ served!
