AMHS Quiz Bowl Team Earns First State Championship

For the first time ever, Academic Magnet High School’s Quiz Bowl team has won the South Carolina state championship title, beating 24 of the best quiz bowl teams from across the state. Congratulations to the A team members, who secured this hard-fought victory for the school: Cameron Erde '26, Liam Rohrbacher '26, Aaron Zhu '27, and James Oliver '28 and for the B team, who also competed impressively, finishing 3-5 in the tournament (Samuel Foppe '28, Ethan Wang '29, Tobias Wilson '29, and Hillary Chang '29).

None of this would be possible without the hard work of Quiz Bowl co-advisors, Ms. Ije Etikerentse and Ms. Kristin Vann. Asked to reflect on their team’s success, Ms. Etikerentse shared “These students thoroughly impress us at every turn. The level, breath, and depth of their knowledge, their competitive spirit, their joie de vivre all combine to make them the exceptional team that they are. We are so privileged to be a part of their collective journey. Go Raptors!

To learn more about this well-deserved honor, please read the press release on the AMHS website (https://amhs.ccsdschools.com/).

Administrative News

Ms. Rhiannon Mansfield, our Career Specialist, was featured as “the ultimate event planning powerhouse” in the CCSD CTE Career Specialists Team newsletter. AMHS knows this to be true from her dedication to pulling off the annual AMHS Career Symposium, which took place last month. As a dedicated 7 year Career Specialist veteran, Ms. Mansfield shines for her unwavering commitment and her willingness to say "Yes" anytime a need is expressed. Parents/Guardians Asked to Complete School Survey for the SC Department of Education

The South Carolina Department of Education partners with the Education Oversight Committee to deliver a parent survey. The response to this survey helps school and district leaders understand how parents feel about the school. A link to this survey has been sent to the parent/guardian of every student at AMHS.

Who should complete the parent survey? Parents of all K-12 students can complete one survey for each of their children attending your school. Parents of Pre-K students do not need to respond to the survey. Any parent/guardian/family member with Parent Portal access associated with a student may respond to the parent survey, but only one response per student will be accepted. For families without internet or computer access, schools should provide access to a computer or mobile device.

How can parents access the survey? Parent surveys will be administered through Powerschool Parent Portal or QR Codes. The QUICK DIRECTIONS provide information about each method of administration.

The parent survey should be completed by April 17, 2026.
