Earlier today, Pinellas County passed a
Safer at Home Order
that will go into effect tomorrow at 11:30 AM. The order asks:
- Individuals to maintain a distance of 6 feet from other persons, not gather in groups of more than 10 individuals, and limit non-essential activity and/or transportation.
- Businesses not providing essential services to maintain CDC social distancing guidelines.
- A full list of essential services can be found here, but generally includes services related to healthcare, utilities, food, shelter, dependent care, transportation, construction services, banks, media services, post offices, laundromats, factories, hotels, and funeral homes.
The
Safer at Home Order
closes public pools, playgrounds, theme parks, bowling alleys, pool halls, movie theaters, concert halls, country clubs, and social clubs. The order is in effect indefinitely.
In a
press conference this afternoon
, Mayor Kriseman said he plans to monitor the impact of the County Order before reevaluating the need for St. Petersburg action.
The city also announced the creation of the Fighting Chance Fund. The fund will provide grants to locally owned and operated businesses. It will target those most directly affected by COVID-19. Details of the fund are still being worked out, but it should be operational as early as next week. Click
