BOTTOMLINE THIS WEEK:
Don't live (or date) in the dark.

Psalm 119:105-106
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep your righteous rule.

Parents I hope you are finding this time of family worship to be beneficial and that it allows you to guide and love your students through this topic as well as this time we find ourselves in. There is another verse I want to share with you that I think is beneficial in the discussion and application of this message.  Luke 7:35 “Yet wisdom is justified by all her children.”
Such a subtle statement Jesus makes and it should be more popular than it is! Here is what He is saying. Many people can make arguments against the wisdom or boundaries that Jesus speaks and claims to be right. They can even fight them with logical means. Maybe many would agree with the logic  against  what Jesus says. However Jesus is saying here, “Time will prove His wisdom to be right!” When we as His people are obedient to His wisdom and boundaries, then our lives are living proof!
There are lots of opinions about how to go about relationships (of any kind.) I encourage you to talk through what God says and even encourage everyone to share their “real” feelings about them. Then remind yourself and them that we get to die to ourselves and realize that Jesus is so right! Jesus knows better for His creation than His creation knows for themselves.

CONSIDER ASKING FOR CONVERSATION:

-What did you hear tonight?

-What are some boundaries you have set in place inside of your relationships (friendship, “dating,” etc.)?   (This is so so important. SPEAK clear boundary expectations. Without calling them out, how can they be in place? Talk through them… use this opportunity to share wisdom to the boundaries YOU want to help them live out. Speak clear expectations!)

-Read Proverbs 11:14 again. Discuss: What do relationships (dating) look like with no guidance?
(This shouldn’t be hard to think about. The point is really to prove that it isn’t good!)

Lead into this question:
What does a healthy relationship look like?   (Take time to think about and discuss how any relationship that is properly entered into and maintained only pushes people toward Jesus! Share it is the reason for relationships! Jesus says we have them because we can be so much better together… we just have to choose people who are after the same truth!)

-How can you know if the people who are advising you are giving wise counsel?
(The first and most obvious is filtering all advice through God’s word! There are many people in our lives who know God’s word better. When they share, their words will be drenched in scripture! We must learn to discern God’s word from man’s opinion. God says, my sheep will know my voice. (John 10:27-28)

TONIGHT'S SET LIST:

THIS MONTH'S BIBLE PLAN
We are reading through the "Save the Date" plan that goes along with our series this month. Click this link to join and read with us!

As a family… use this time of “distancing” to connect. Thank the people in your lives who are people who will love you well. Call out in you the areas that you need correcting! Pray for them and pray to be able to be that kind of person for someone else… pointing others toward Jesus!

THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING US WITH YOUR STUDENTS. WE PRAY THIS NIGHT AND THIS RESOURCE PROVIDES GREAT CONVERSATION THAT POINTS YOU ALL TOWARD CHRIST!
