New and Notable
"Music can change the world- Beethoven"

I sincerely hope this newsletter finds you and your families well and adjusting to your new normal.  I have really been enjoying see the students during our calls, even if only for a little while.  They are welcome to contact me for extra instruction/pointers as they navigate practicing at home.  I miss my students and our routine!  Please look to the right and below for important due dates and information for orchestra.

Orchestra assignments due today:
Merit Point Sheet-2 nd  semester all, freshman both semesters. These are in Google Classroom.
LGPE Performance Evaluation-LGPE videos of other groups-student fill out an evaluation form as if they were a LPGE judge! On Google Classroom.
Last week assignments- (students can still do these if they have not) FlipGrid performance assessment. We held sectionals last week, and this week we met by class, student leadership, and seniors.
Upcoming Assignments: We have ordered solos at a number of different levels for all instruments and students. Students will receive music this upcoming week and will start to work on individual solo pieces. I have had many students reach out about solo music to practice over the last couple of weeks and I think this is going to be a great opportunity for personal musical growth!
This page on Atlanta Violins has a large listing of private teachers. I have seen/heard that many teachers are doing lessons via zoom-etc. If your child is interested in private lessons, this is a great time to look into that. You might be able to do a trial lesson to see if the student has a good connection with the teacher. I can help further with this if you have more questions.
End of Year-Banquet-Senior Celebrations:
We are working to order items (letters, stars, bars, medals, certificates, etc) for the end of the year awards. The formal banquet and spring concert have been cancelled at this point, but we are working to come up with creative ways to celebrate the end of our year. Seniors have the opportunity to apply for the Bobby Moody Scholarship Award-that is posted on Google Classroom. Seniors also have the opportunity to apple for the Fine Arts Diploma Seal-that paperwork is due Monday-something I have been going over with them this year.  Seniors will be receiving a mini banner of the senior banner shown above!
There is so much information going around, it is hard to keep up with, so please feel free to reach out anytime.  Whitesaw@fultonschools.org
