Dear Students and Parents:

I hope email finds everyone healthy and safe at home. As our community continues to adapt to our new realities, day-after-day our students and faculty are doing an amazing job with online learning. With two weeks under our belt, Notre Dame is averaging a 95.6% attendance/work completion rate. Thank you to all of our parents for your ongoing support! Notre Dame's transition to online learning has been tremendously smooth thanks to everyone's commitment and efforts. This was highlighted in a Connecticut Post article this past week. I have a few updates this morning:

1) The past few weeks have been extremely stressful and, quite honesty, exhausting for everyone. In recognition of this fact and realizing the amazing work students and staff have been doing each day, the Superintendent has decided that our April break will be extended by a few days. Break will now run from Monday, April 6 through Friday, April 17. Classes will resume on Monday, April 20.

This extended break will give teachers an opportunity to prepare lessons for the likely continuation of online learning into at least May. When teachers first began preparations for this new way of teaching, I asked them to develop a two week unit. It now looks very likely that it will extend well beyond that. This break will not only give teachers an opportunity to lesson plan, but also to have chance to catch their breath. As I've mentioned before, when and if we return to the building this spring will be decided based upon direction from the Governor and local health officials.

Dr. Cheeseman.

3) When communicating with teachers, students are asked to please use their ND email account (versus a personal email - as it can sometimes be difficult to determine who the email is coming from.)

4) We are looking to spotlight our seniors on social media and celebrate their college acceptances/decisions. Seniors are asked to complete a Google Form by clicking here and send an email with a picture to Mrs. Marko ( ) either wearing college swag or holding a pennant/acceptance letter, etc. We look forward to sharing everyone's good news with our community.
5) If you missed the email on Thursday, we are announcing a new campaign: Always a Lancer. We look forward to engaging all areas of our community and be on the look out for future information in the coming days. Click here to watch the video that accompanied this announcement.
6) We humbly ask families to please do your best to keep up with tuition payments. If you usually bring your payment to the office, we ask that you utilize the FACTS online payment system while the building is closed. You are also welcome to mail a check to the school (220 Jefferson St., Fairfield, CT 06825). Late fees have been waived. Maintaining cash flow is important to the school during this time, but we certainly understand the new financial realities everyone is facing.

7) The Financial Aid application deadline is being extended to May 15. The sooner you are able to complete your taxes, the sooner you can apply for aid. Families are reminded that you must reapply for aid annually.

8) Nine tuition scholarships are available for next school year. Applications were sent in an earlier email (a reminder email with links will follow on Sunday). The deadline for submitting online applications is Tuesday, March 31.

9) College Board has announced the availability of online AP test preparation lessons. Click here to check out the daily schedule for classes which are available on the AP YouTube Channel .

10) Please be aware if teachers or the administration reach out via phone during the school day, the number may come up on your caller ID as "restricted".

11) Third marking period report cards were emailed on Friday. If you did not receive a report card, please email Jeff Stone at .

12) Mass will be celebrated this Sunday at 11:30 am by former ND Chaplain Fr. Peter Cipriani in honor of the ND community and streamed on Facebook live. C lick here to view the Mass.

Please have a good weekend, enjoy family time, and stay safe.
