Western Trails Students Contribute to School Mural Inspired by Shared Book!
Before break, Western Trails students all contributed to the new mural inside the school's hallways! It's based on the book Maybe Something Beautiful, which is a true story about how art from even the smallest artists can inspire transformation and lead to great accomplishments. The entire school read the book together earlier this year.

What a tremendous project for the Western Trails community to take on together. With the mural, each student's mark will literally be left on the school for the foreseeable future. It'll be finalized soon, and I can't wait to see the finished product!
CCSD93 3rd-8th Grade Students to Take IAR in April
Between April 1 and April 26, 3rd through 8th grade CCSD93 students will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). The IAR replaces PARCC as the statewide assessment to measure student mastery of learning standards in English language arts and mathematics.

Each CCSD93 school will administer IAR to students during a time frame that works best for the school. IAR typically consists of several testing sessions over the course of two weeks that last approximately 60-90 minutes each. If you have a child in any of these grade levels, please keep an eye out for more information from your child's principal.

As always, in order for students to perform to the best of their abilities, please ensure that they arrive to school on time, are well rested, and have been able to eat breakfast prior to testing.
CCSD93 Innovation Summer Camp Registration Opens 4/1
This summer, CCSD93 will offer Innovation Summer Camp for incoming 2nd-8th graders the week of June 17-21, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

The camp, formerly known as STEM Summer Camp, will offer students terrific hands-on opportunities to create, innovate, invent, code, and work with robotics and within the field of visual arts. It'll be just $45 and includes a t-shirt.

Registration will open this Monday, April 1 at 10 a.m.! Parents of current 1st-7th grade students will receive a text and email when it opens. Find out more about the courses at www.ccsd93.com/innovation, and feel free to bookmark the page for when registration goes live! 
See Stratford Students Put On The Wizard of Oz

Stratford Middle School students will put on The Wizard of Oz at Stratford next weekend during the following dates and times:
  • Friday, April 5 at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 6 at 3 p.m.

Final Day of School to be Set at 4/25  
Board of Education Meeting
I want to give our parents a heads up that the Board will set the last day of school for the 2018-19 school year at the April 25 Board of Education meeting. This is when we typically set the last day, because by the second Board meeting in April we are less likely to need to take additional days off from school due to weather events. I'll let you know right here on April 26 what the final day of school will be!
School Resumes Monday (4/1)
We're excited to welcome CCSD93 student and staff members back from spring break as school resumes on Monday, April 1, 2019 with our typical Monday schedule!
