“Lent is the autumn of the spiritual life during which we gather fruit to keep us going for the rest of the year.” St. Francis de Sales
Dear Parents,
As we begin this season of Lent, we are reminded that during this season we are invited to grow in our faith through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. This Lent, you may have already discerned the Lenten practices for your family, or perhaps you are still contemplating how God might be calling you to sacrifice this season.
If your family is still discerning your Lenten practices, it is not too late to start! Here are a few ideas that may help you consider how God is calling your family to grow in holiness this Lent:
· Pray as a family each day.
· Schedule time to pray in Adoration as a family.
· Pray the Stations of the Cross.
· Perform acts of kindness to others in your home such as completing a chore for a sibling.
· Choose a charity to support this Lent such as the book drive for books at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Gallup, New Mexico. See below for more information.
· Schedule time to talk and play games as a family.
· Get involved in a ministry or service at your parish.
· Read about the saints.
· Fast from the radio when driving to school in the morning.
· Speak kindness toward others and avoid the temptation to gossip.
God Bless,
Erin Vu
