2022 WELLNESS INITIATIVE
Neighborhood Leadership Institute issued its first annual Community Priorities Survey in December 2021. Our organization is responding to the community’s input with new programming that is aligned with the Dimensions of Wellness and will be offering a variety of events and activities related to the Dimensions of Wellness over the course of 2022. We will also promote related activities hosted by trusted community partners. Check out the Wellness Initiative landing page to discover our continually updating schedule. We will be highlighting emotional wellness in June and intellectual wellness in July.

Trauma and Self Care

Understanding trauma can be empowering and helpful to connect with the ways we are
needing to take care of ourselves. In this presentation, we will be focusing on how
trauma impacts us and the ways in which we can find resiliency and engage in self-care.

July 18th - 12:00 PM on Zoom.

The 8 Dimensions of Wellness

Wellness is caring for your mind, body, and soul. It is usually affected by your culture and your life experiences. It is self-defined and dynamic. Wellness is not just the absence of illness or stress – you can still strive for improved wellness even if you are not experiencing these challenges currently in your life. While all dimensions of wellness need your attention for you to truly flourish, there doesn’t have to be a perfect balance among all dimensions. Instead, the goal is to find what works best for you. The dimensions are interconnected, so you may notice that most topics (e.g. stress, finances, healthy relationships, substance use, etc.) influence multiple dimensions. Explore these dimensions with us and learn about tips and resources related to each dimension during NLI’s 2022 Wellness Initiative.

TRUE2U MENTORING
RECRUITMENT STARTS FOR 2022/2023 MENTORS
True2U is a volunteer mentoring program that helps CMSD eighth graders explore their true selves and prepare to make the most of high school as an important step on the path to career readiness. True2U is a proud partner of the PACE (Planning and Career Exploration) Program in CMSD, an embedded curriculum for 6th – 12th graders that provides them with the knowledge, skills, experiences, and confidence to uncover the occupations or careers they want to pursue.

Through mentoring with True2U and volunteering with PACE, you can help students develop good decision-making skills and encourage them to leverage their strengths and interests as they start out on their paths to high school, college, and/or career choices. True2U Mentors are partnered with at least one other volunteer and use their unique backgrounds and PACE curriculum to assist a group of 8th graders, during the school day, in better understanding themselves and the opportunities available to them.
