CALLING ALL MENTORS!
College Now Greater Cleveland is seeking 200 volunteers with a college degree to mentor college scholarship recipients starting in the 2023-2024 academic year. Students are from Northeast Ohio and are receiving a College Now or a Say Yes Cleveland scholarship.

As a mentor, you email your mentee twice a month and meet or connect virtually three times a year. Mentors provide advice, guidance, and support to students, many of whom are first in their families to attend college. Such a small investment of time pays huge dividends – College Now students graduate at nearly twice the rate of their peers nationally!

When you become a mentor, you join more than 2,000 other Northeast Ohio professionals from over 500 employers working to change outcomes for individual students, break the cycle of poverty in Cleveland, and invest in our future workforce. Be someone who matters to someone who matters – mentor!

By signing up today, you can help ensure that these ambitious students have the support they need to succeed! Apply here by April 1st to get started and be considered for a match in summer 2023. Once your application is complete, a staff member of College Now will contact you about the next steps. Contact Nicki Price (nprice@collegenowgc.org or 216.635.0268) for more information.

TRUE2U MENTORING
Did you see the feature on News Channel 5 covering our BRAVE Mentoring program? In collaboration with Partnership for Safer Cleveland, we are looking for volunteers for this new pilot program which is helping to keep students invested academically, emotionally, and socially. “These kids have gone through the pandemic and situations that most of us adults didn't experience in the same way,” said Caroline Brennan, Senior Program Coordinator at Neighborhood Leadership Institute. The program, BRAVE Engagements, addresses Behaviors, Relationships, Actions, Values, and Emotions. It focuses on students in fourth and fifth grade. Currently, BRAVE is in four CMSD schools and is led by mentors. Each in-class session builds on the other and starts with a focus on healthy relationships. Then, students go on to learn how to recognize and manage emotions, self-leaderships skills, conflict prevention, and resolution, and how to resist peer pressure.
