UNITE INDY partners with individuals, suburban churches, business leaders, and public officials to mobilize resources to support urban churches, ministries & charities struggling to help those in need.
Honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. 50 years after his untimely death creates the opportunity to look back at where Christians have been on the issue of racism and how we can affect the future. "Darkness," said King, "cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. The time is always right to do what is right." We at UNITE INDY believe the time is right to start helping our minority brothers in ministry. It's happening all over the country. It has the power to bring back our inner cities. Email Jim to find out how you can help.
Black? White? How about human?
Rev. John Girton's tweet was too good not to pass on.. This big guy is Rev. John Gray who is a nationally-known pastor with a great sense of humor and his own way of challenging racism. He says, "I’ve been in churches where I am the first black person many of the people there have ever shaken hands with. I’m not black first. I’m a Christian first. I want to be known for my life, not the color of my skin." Shouldn't we all feel the same. See Pastor G's Tweet!
Prayers for Indiana were raised at opening day
of the 2018 Indiana legislative session. Pastors and ministry leaders along with UNITE INDY gathered around our representatives and prayed with them for direction and guidance in their duties as lawmakers and for all those who serve Indiana residents. Deaths from opiates, educational imbalance, racial differences. What can be more productive than to spend those first hours in a joint request for leadership from above? Hmmmm. Nothing.
