Labour Market Snapshot, 2018 Q3 just released!
Our recent Labour Market Snapshot is full of important labour market information that is useful to job seekers, employment services staff and employers.

Here are 3 things to know about the labour market in 2018 Q3:

  • The unemployment rate edged higher in Q3 2018, increasing to 5.2% in September
  • Business, finance and administrative occupations saw the largest decline in employment year over year (-14%)
  • Technical occupations in art, culture, recreation and sport had the largest increase in employment year over year (+7,200 jobs)

Recent Industry Trends Summary:

  • Employment in the services producing sector has grown since April 2018
  • Professional services had its workforce increase by 6,400 workers

Resident recruitment open for City of Hamilton’s Agencies, Board and Committees


Residents can apply to join one of the City of Hamilton’s many local agencies, boards and committees.  

As a citizen member of an existing committee, you must re-apply each term if you wish to be considered for an interview.

Interested residents may apply to a maximum of two committees. Recruitment closes on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.

Quick Facts:
  • Each agency, board and committee has a specific mandate
  • Most meet monthly with additional work required between meetings
  • Most appointments are for four years to coincide with the term of Council
