"And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been."

~ Rainer Maria Rilke

"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something."

~ Neil Gaiman

Welcome to the new year, everyone!

The beginning of January is often full of conversations about resolutions; the media has all kinds of ideas about things we can buy to "improve" ourselves. Instead, we think that the turning of the year can be an excellent time to reflect on the people, places, and activities that help you feel more healthy and renewed, more energized and focused, and hopefully, more like the self you've imagined. We hope that our studio has been one of those places and we hope to see you soon.

Warmest Regards,
and the BYM crew

Has It Been A While?

Beginning this week, we have a new twist on the 30 Days for $30 package. If you haven't been to class for a year you can come back and slide in on this great deal!

We know how it goes... after a certain amount of time goes by, it just sounds incredibly hard to wade back into the heat and sweat. But instead of thinking what it would take to get there, think of how good you feel when you leave! Remember how clear your mind was, and how open and clean your body felt. Not only does hot yoga detox the body by compressing and stretching every major organ, muscle, ligament, and tendon, but it leads to better flexibility and improves the body's ability to burn fat.  We know that when you come back, you'll want to dive in for the first few weeks and we want to help you do it. So if it's been a while (oy, a looong while) break through your mental block and get this good deal while the getting's good!

Donation Class is Back!

On Sunday, January 11th, the 4 pm class will be the first donation class of the year. This donation class will benefit the West Central Montana Avalanche Foundation. As we near the one-year anniversary of the devastating urban avalanche in the Rattlesnake, we are reminded of how important research, information, and teaching about avalanche danger is in a mountain town like Missoula.

As a reminder, there is a $5 minimum for a donation class here at BYM, but we hope you might want to pay it forward to the groups we support. You can learn more about the West Central Montana Avalanche Foundation here:

Want Some New Stuff?

Are interested in buying a new top or some new shorts but don't like what we have the lobby? If so, you might consider placing a Mika clothes order. You can peruse Mika's offerings here: Please let Cheryl know what you would like by January 10th and she will include it in her larger order.

An Invitation To Share The Good Word

Here at BYM, we know that this yoga has changed many of your lives. We know this because you tell us: one of the great privileges of teaching and practicing in a warm, vibrant yoga community like ours is that you get to hear about and personally observe miraculous changes in people. We can see it visibly in your practice but we are fascinated by how many changes you notice and tell us about. We are always reminded that each of you is on your own personal journey in our classes.

We also notice that many of you like you like to share your stories with your fellow students and - we're guessing - with your friends who don't come to class. Since you are experts about your own experiences here, we're hoping you might like to offer a testimonial for a new page on our soon-to-be-ready, redesigned website. We're inviting you to share brief testimonials about a wide variety of topics. Here are a few ideas:

  • How long have you been practicing? What brought you here and why do you stay?
  • What does Bikram Yoga add to your life?
  • How has the yoga improved your health?
  • How does your practice improve your body? Your mind and spirit?
  • How do you feel before class? After?

If you're will to share your story with us, please send your submission to Cheryl at Our goal is to collect a lot of testimonials so that we can rotate them on the website. See you in the hot room!
