We moved FOUR homes in 24 hours!
Partners in Housing took advantage of tremendous opportunities in 1999 in acquiring properties used to serve the families in our program!
A remarkable collaboration between Partners in Housing, Colorado College, Rocky Mountain Community Land Trust (RMCLT), and several City of Colorado Springs departments allowed for the donation and move of four homes to the west side of the city in a location we call “The Hill”.

Three of these homes were donated to Partners in Housing by Colorado College and along with funding from many sources, the homes were put on permanent foundations and are still used by Partners in Housing today.

Moving these buildings was quite an effort and we thank David Lord (with Colorado College and RNR Foundation), Bob Koenig (then Executive Director of RMCLT), and Dick Conn (then Executive Director of Partners in Housing), for their persistence and hard work! The homes had to be moved overnight because of traffic and utility concerns and, of course, it rained!
Pictures of how we moved the homes across town!

Another Acquisition = More Families in Homes!
Also during 1999, Partners in Housing acquired a beautiful, Victorian property in the Old North End! During the savings and loan crisis, the RTC (Resolution Trust Corporation) became the owner of the property, and Partners in Housing was able to purchase the building for a great price from them!
This stunning building has five unique apartments which families in our program call home while they are with us. Below is a touching quote from a family that lived in one of the apartments:

"During our time living in our apartment north of downtown, my girls and I enjoyed long walks in the neighborhood looking at the historic buildings, old houses, and the beautiful tree canopy over the road. There was something enchanting about it! We would go to the farmers market downtown to pick out flowers and put them in a vase in the apartment. We were healing the trauma of uncertainty by adding small personal touches to our new home. My girls remember nothing but warmth and safety surrounding us during our time in that sweet little space."
We take great pride in these properties and always strive to be a good neighbor and maintain the homes in great condition. We recently renovated the building and love the original hardwood floors and beautiful architectural features!
Partners in Housing has helped so many families in the 22 years of our ownership of these wonderful properties and we thank the community for the incredible support in acquiring and maintaining them!
