Major Renovations at Colorado House!
A group of Partners in Housing staff, Partner clients, and volunteers met several times to discuss the best use of the great space at our Colorado House and Resource facility. With the help of professionals from RTA Architects and the great ideas formulated from the meetings, Partners in Housing renovated the property for more effective use!
The Renovations & The Benefits:

Moving the Child Enrichment Center so it was not next to the Life Skills classroom reduced the noise and distractions!

Expanding the dining hall and creating a community kitchen were changes that were easily noticed and appreciated, while replacing hot water tanks and upgrading the electrical system made huge improvements behind the scenes!
Before and After of the Colorado House Dining Hall! Looking great!
In the individual offices created, staff and volunteers meet one on one with Partners for money mentoring, Work It! employment services, housing navigation, credit counseling, and case management appointments. Having the Child Enrichment Center available during appointments and classes provides child care, homework help, and respite for the families. The computer resource center, used for job applications, homework, and other needs, and Lowe’s Kitchen are open to families who live at the property with access 24 hours per day.

The beautiful “Lowe’s Kitchen” was created with all materials and labor donated by the five Lowe’s stores in our region! This kitchen provides space and larger appliances which greatly enhance the cooking and baking opportunities for the families who reside at the Colorado House!

The gorgeous new kitchen! Wow!
Big thank you to Lowe's!
We are so grateful not only to Lowe’s for their amazing efforts but also to the many other supporters who helped; RTA Architects in planning, El Pomar for funding, City of Colorado Springs for infrastructure funding, Bob Ormston with Robert Scott Builders, Tracey Griggs – project manager, Air Force Academy cadets (volunteer group), US Bank (volunteer group) and many other individual volunteers!

We are currently working on plans to upgrade the exterior of the building and look forward to many more wonderful improvements!
