CONSTRUCTION ADVISORY
For the weeks of February 21 and 28
Northbound 31st Street
north of Fontanero Street to reopen Monday

Storm sewer work at the northbound 31st Street / Fontanero Street intersection is complete. Northbound 31st Street is scheduled to reopen Monday (Feb. 21) after the intersection is paved. Weather conditions impacted the original work schedule.
Fontanero Street utility work complete

Fontanero Street utility work is now complete between 30th and 31st Streets. The contractor will improve the work zone on Fontanero Street by opening a second lane westbound and allow access to Pleasant Street. Temporary surfaces will be present until Fontanero Street is paved in early April once weather improves with warmer temperatures.
Work continues on the Foothills Trail
underpass beneath Gateway Road

Crews continue to build a large box culvert underneath Gateway Road as part of a new multi-use trail connection. The underpass will improve pedestrian safety with direct access between the Visitor Center and popular trails on the north side of Gateway Road to Rock Ledge Ranch and the Park overflow parking lot on the south.

The contractor team recently poured the concrete box culvert floor. The culvert walls and top will be poured in the next two weeks, weather-permitting.
Construction Activities planned
  • Prepare the area near the 30th Street and Gateway Road intersection for the future roundabout and trail underpass
  • Continue Foothills Trail underpass construction at Gateway Road
  • Place new water pipeline north of Gateway Road
  • Continue storm sewer pipeline installation
  • Build new retaining walls along 30th Street
  • Construct drainage features for the water quality pond west of 30th Street near Chambers Way including pouring a concrete forebay structure and placing rip rap
  • Continue full road closure of 30th Street between Gateway and Mesa Roads (View the detour route)

In addition to the full road closure of 30th Street between Gateway and Mesa Roads, occasional lane or shoulder closures are possible within the work zone. As needed, flaggers will assist with traffic control. General work hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional extended work hours or weekend work may be allowed for specific and necessary construction activities.
