First Reading:
“You shall not wrong any widow or orphan.
If ever you wrong them and they cry out to me,
I will surely hear their cry. My wrath will flare up, and I will kill you with the sword.” (Ex 22:21-23a)
Second Reading:
You became imitators of us and of the Lord,
receiving the word in great affliction, with joy from the Holy Spirit, so that you became a model for all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. (1 Thes 1:6-7)
Gospel:
Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mt 22:37-39)

A Message from our Parish Pastor, Father Phil

Dear Parishioners:
We’ve been on the expanded Mass schedule for six weeks with Fr. Tom Lijewski and Fr. Bob Stiefvater helping out on Sundays. During this time, I’ve taken the early Mass (7:30 a.m.) at SJB and the late Mass (10:30 a.m.) at STA, thereby allowing Fr. Tom and Fr. Bob to adhere to the original Sunday schedule of 8:00 a.m. at STA and 9:30 a.m. at SJB.

All Saints Day Masses and Memorial Celebration for All Souls
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church will celebrate All Saints Day and a Memorial Celebration for All Souls during each Mass the weekend of November 1. Our deceased loved ones names will be read at each Mass and a candle lit in their honor. If you have a family member who died this past year (since November 1, 2019) and whose funeral was offered elsewhere, please send your name, your loved one's name, relationship and date of death to the parish office at sjbparish@sjbplymouth.org or call 920-892-4006. After Mass families may take home a memorial candle in honor of their deceased loved one. Please register to attend Mass.
All Souls Remembrance Book
During the month of November a remembrance book will be placed near the Altar for you to record the names of your departed loved ones. These souls will be prayed for and remembered at all St. John the Baptist Masses during the month of November. Due to COVID-19, please bring your own pen. Thank you for understanding.

RPM's - Rosary, Prayers and More for Mary
October 27th and the 4th Tuesday of each month
6:30 in the School Library
We focus on praying the rosary together as a community, offering prayer intentions, and sharing and growing in our faith. What better way to get closer to Jesus than through His mom, our Blessed Mother! We will gather at 6:30 PM in the Library with a short introduction and prayer intentions, begin praying the scriptural rosary about 6:45 PM, and estimate to conclude by 7:30 PM. Those who are interested can continue to share and socialize until 8:00 PM. You can register by completing this form: RPM's registration - which simply puts you on the mailing list for all future RPM's and gives access to shared documents - there is NO obligation to attend or RSVP each month, simply come when you can! For questions or assistance signing up, please contact Diane Gafney at onmkids@gmail.com or 920-254-2215. "For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" -Matthew 18:20

Faithful Citizenship 2020
|
|
We pray …
Merciful Father, Thank you for inviting each of us to join in your work of building the kingdom of love, justice, and peace. Draw us close to you in prayer as we discern your call in our families and communities. Send us forth to encounter all whom you love: those not yet born, those in poverty, those in need of welcome. Inspire us to respond to the call to faithful citizenship, during election season and beyond. Help us to imitate your charity and compassion and to serve as models of loving dialogue. Teach us to treat others with respect, even when we disagree, and seek to share your love and mercy. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen

Meeting the Needs of our Students
Our SJB teachers work very hard to differentiate instruction whenever possible to meet the academic levels and interests of each individual student. One way that our teachers meet the needs is through our Guided Reading Program led by our Learning Support teacher Shelly Birenbaum. Students' reading needs are met as they work to develop better control of the reading process and develop reading strategies that assist them in decoding and construct meaning. The teachers and/or support staff guide the students as they read and think their way through the leveled reading text working on a variety of reading skills as they go. I was blessed with the opportunity to work with a couple of guided reading groups recently and was so impressed at the progress the students are making so early in the year!

The Conference of St. John the Baptist St. Vincent de Paul Society
“A network of friends, inspired by the gospel values, growing in
holiness and building a more just world through personal
relationships with and service to people in need.”
So much appreciation for your continued support. Please take a moment to review the past fiscal year that the conference had by viewing the ANNUAL REPORT. Also, thank you in advance for attending Mass on Thanksgiving day and giving generously when the collection takes place! If you will not be attending Thanksgiving day Mass and you still want to support SJB’s largest service outreach, you are encouraged to make checks out to SVDP Conference and mail or drop off at the parish office, dropbox, or collection baskets at Mass. Looking for a little extra support these days? Find out more HERE.
