Jamie Perez Sutta is a talented musician and founder of a nonprofit organization who knows the transformational power of music education and has an unbelievable talent to teach, inspire and encourage our youth. In 2003, Mrs. Sutta graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Choral Music Education from Florida State University with a full scholarship. Her leadership abilities and passion for making a difference were fostered in her first teaching position at Ocoee Middle School in Orlando, where she directed four choral groups. Under her direction, each chorus achieved a high level of personal and musical excellence, earning superior ratings for three consecutive years at the Florida Vocal Association's Music Performance Assessments. As a vocalist, she has performed nationally and internationally. She holds a master's degree in Vocal Jazz Performance from the University of Miami, where she graduated in 2009. Mrs. Sutta has had the honor of sharing the stage with the likes of Ellis Marsalis, Billy Taylor, William Warfield, Tierney Sutton, and Nicole Yarling. She has performed at a wide range of venues with the GDO Soul Band, including performances at Miami Heat's Chris Bosh's wedding and the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. In 2010, her work in the music video Gotta Keep Reading was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show. In 2011, Mrs. Sutta founded The Children's Voice Chorus (CVC) and continues continues to be its Artistic Director to date. The CVC’s mission is to provide young singers of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in Miami-Dade County with superior choral music education, emphasizing musical and personal growth, as well as building community across divides; all aspects of which she was exposed to throughout her musical development. Just last year, CVC performed with Yolanda Adams at Super Bowl LIV. In addition to being Founder and Artistic Director of the CVC, Mrs. Sutta is also currently the Assistant Music Director at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church.
We salute you and thank you for your dedication and inspiration to young musicians and for the positive impact you have on our Palmetto Bay!
