Linda Robinson was the first Vice Mayor in the Village of Palmetto Bay. Vice Mayor Robinson and her late husband Ken, moved to Palmetto Bay from Cleveland in 1971 where they built their first home. She is known as the “Mother of Palmetto Bay” and helped put the Village in place. After the incorporation in 2002, she ran for Vice Mayor of the first Village Council and won! Ken supported her every step of the way. Unfortunately shortly after her victory, he lost his battle to pancreatic cancer. Fighting for the betterment of this community became her drive and her Palmetto Bay family gave her all the strength she needed. Vice Mayor Robinson secured a second term without opposition. She loved every minute of holding office and has served this community and others in many ways. Her past experience includes creation of various Departments in PB including Public Works, Building and Zoning, Police Departments; serving as Liaison for the Village “Celebration” Picnic (2002-2008), Council Liaison for Building and Permitting Department, Council Liaison for Public Relations and Lobbyist as well as on the committee to design and implement Ibis Bus free public transportation for the city; assisted in creation of Ordinance for Abandoned Properties; helped create the Ken Robinson Meditation Garden named in memory of her husband; organized Town Hall Meetings and Informational Sessions for Miami-Dade County after Hurricane Andrew, 1992; coached college students through Strong Women Strong Girls, (2012 – 2014); membership in the Board for Palmetto Business Association (2011- 2015); served as Director of After School Cultural Arts Program JCC in five local Miami schools (1969-1974); served as President of the Coral Reef Elementary PTA (1973-1976); received the National PTA Award in 1975; served as the Chair of the Citizens Advisory for Board of Education Southwood Middle School and Palmetto High (1981); and developed a student tutoring program for Southwood Middle School (1979-1980). She was also appointed twice to the Miami-Dade Commission for Women (2012 – 2020), where she had the opportunity to elevate the stories of community members such as immigrants, survivors of human trafficking, and children. In 2014, she was honored with the Miami-Dade County Mayor’s Pioneer Award at the 26th annual “In the Company of Women” Awards and received the “Women of Impact” Award. Vice Mayor Robinson has been a top-producing real estate broker since 1974 and is a founding member of Master Brokers of Miami-Dade. She continues practicing real estate as an Agent/Partner at Keller Williams Realty. Additionally Vice Mayor Robinson is dedicated to her children and three grandchildren; whom she is especially proud of.
