Paula Palm was one of the human forces that helped make Palmetto Bay what it is today. In 1986, Mrs. Palm, or Paula, as we refer to her, moved to Palmetto Bay with her husband Dave and was one of the original members of Palmetto Bay’s Community Council before our incorporation. She was one of the many amazing leaders in the Palmetto Bay Steering Committee that worked tirelessly for seven years until we incorporated in 2002. She was also a founding member of Alliance of Coral Reef Estates (A.C.R.E) Homeowners Association in 1989 through 2014. Paula was always working on helping our community.
Paula, an accomplished businesswoman, worked for many years as a Purchasing Manager in the garment industry in Massachusetts, where she graduated from Babson College. She was afflicted by Type 1 diabetes for much of her life and held numerous yard sale fundraisers at her home to support research and find possible cure for the debilitating disease. She was selfless and loved seeing the community come together. In January of 2020, we lost Paula to a heart attack at age 65, just a short time after losing Dave. In February of 2020, the A.C.R.E commemorated her life and Dave’s with a beautiful celebration of their lives at the Perrine House Community Center. Paula, we will always miss you.
We salute you and thank you for your commitment, dedication, and love of our Palmetto Bay!
